“They should only deliver Monday, Wednesday,
and Friday.”
“I would rather there was no mail on say
Wednesday. Saturday is the only day I am home
to get the mail when it's delivered. I like trying
to get my Netflix movie in the mail Saturday to
get it on its way as soon as possible. But that's
just me.”
“The United States Postal Service is wise to
consider any and all options to stay solvent. Just
like so many original government agencies, it
has become somewhat obsolete. Being
independent at this time allows for restructure
and continued service. If it were up to the
government to make these cuts, just like all the
other obsolete programs and agencies, it would
be allowed to remain a drain on the citizens’
taxes until our nation is bankrupt. Oh, did that
already happen??”
“The Post Office should eliminate all deliveries.
It would be much more efficient and less costly
to taxpayers by privatizing this operation.”
“The mail system is not as important as it once
was. Saturday deliveries would not be missed
by most people. If it would save them money,
then they should do it now.”
“I don't believe we can’t afford that luxury
anymore.”
“Absolutely! No one wants mail on Saturdays
anyway.”
“I think we have one of the best and least
expensive systems of postal delivery in the
world. I'd love to see Saturday delivery
continued, but if stopping it is what's needed to
get the USPS into the black, I support it. It will
be at most a minor inconvenience for everyone.
It would truly be a sad day to see it happen
though.”
“The US Postal system has become antiquated.
They need to revamp their services and become
more competitive.”
“It is not an essential service in this age of
electronic media.”
“Instead, the post office should eliminate lazy
employees. I've never visited a USPS office
without waiting an obscene amount of time for
an angry employee to get around to helping me.
I'd prefer to pay a little extra for FedEx or UPS
rather than deal with slovenly incompetence.”
“We should be finding ways to help the
economy by not causing more people without
jobs.”
“I would like to see the Post Office come up
with some creative ways to reverse the decline
in use. Perhaps they could get some really
intelligent individuals together to brainstorm
some ways to improve the system and bring the
business back.”
“I would rather the cost of stamps go up over
eliminating Saturday delivery.”
“Instead of relying on easy answers like raising
stamp prices or cutting Saturday delivery they
should look for ways to reduce waste and
inefficiency in order to become solvent.”
“They provide a delivery service which gives
them an advantage over UPS and FedEx.
Currently the Post Office makes a profit.
Congress has required them to prepay 75 years
worth of retirement benefits (Full 100%) for all
employees within the next 10 years.”
“The post office is losing money because of
mismanagement. The taxpayers should neither
lose Saturday service nor bail out the Post
Office.”

“We have never had Saturday delivery where I
live and we did just fine.”
“They don't have to stop Sat. delivery. If they
want to increase their business they should look
at their customer service practices (poor where I
am). Do some serious reorganization or just lop
off jobs, positions or close down offices. Then
raise rates for the same crappy service. Ever
spend 45 mins in line at the PO only to have a
cantankerous clerk growl at you? One line open
for all services, and the person in front of you
has 7 different transactions including money
orders? Oh that’s why growling.”
“Elimination of Saturday delivery would be OK
IF that allowed the small rural Post Offices to
stay open. Closure of small post offices in
Montana may be the death knell for those small
towns. Also, the Post Office is considering
elimination of mail sorting for Missoula, MT
(100,000) and Kalispell, MT (50,000) and
sending mail for those 2 cities to Spokane, WA
(200 or 310 miles away). Bad Idea for Montana
cities!”
“The offices should still be open for people to
mail packages and buy stamps.”
“I am one of the few who keeps the Post-office
going and need its services. I write, mail cardsyes-'snail mail'. Stop Saturday service - most
people won't notice as all they get is bills or junk
mail since they have forgotten how to write.”
“It's a simple solution from a personal point of
view, although I don't know how it would affect
businesses. In the long run, it might teach all of
us to become more efficient.”
“I'd rather receive mail less often than have the
PO go totally down the tubes. Getting a real
snail mail letter from a friend is something that I
truly cherish.”
“There is a lack of need, because of
technology.”
“Yes, but not Post Office services. Regardless
of what's happening with electronic media and
direction to replace paper mail, there's still a
need.”
“Saturday is Sabbath, the day of rest.”
“If it will keep jobs!”
“I love my local post office people...and so do
my sweet Airedale terriers. Also, it is not too
cool for procrastinators, who count on Tuesday
delivery to announce Sunday events... Support
your local postal workers. They are
understaffed and doing the job of several
people...Need to clone them.”
“Eliminate business delivery on Saturday, but
residential should remain. For some elderly or
homebound, that can be the highlight of their
day.”
“It is a shame people do not write anymore...”
“They need to get viable some way. Perhaps
they need to think out of the box, like advertise
stamp collecting. Also, no one knows more
about mail. Maybe they need to merge mail and
email so that if you want to send a letter, email it
to USPS and they will mail it; or backwards, if
you want send an email, but do not have an
email address, mail a letter to the USPS and they
will search out the email and send it for a small
charge.”
“I like my Saturday mail, even if it is bills.”
“That is the only day for some of us to get to the
post office when we have to mail packages, etc.
They should receive funding from the
government, especially to keep small post
offices running- they are in areas where there is
no UPS, etc.”
