CHOICE 1:
Comparing Types of Government Project: Limited vs. Unlimited Governments
You will complete a project comparing the governments of two different countries. One country will have a
democratic style of government (limited); one will have an autocratic style of government (unlimited).
PART 1: Research and choose 2 countries - one with an unlimited (autocratic) government and one with a
limited (democratic) government (you cannot use the USA) - you may consult with me for assistance; you may
use the scholastic magazine from the classroom for assistance

PART 2: Research and answer the following questions for each country on a separate sheet of paper. To
answer these questions, research the type of government of your assigned countries. 2 Sites recommended:
CIA World Factbook, Culture Grams (both on my teacher webpage under ‘links’) You will need to do more
research on your own, as well.
1. What type of government does each country have?
2. How are the leaders of each country selected? What title(s) are they given?
4. How does each country change its leader? Is there a peaceful transfer of power? Explain the process
5. 3. Is consent of the governed an important principle in each country? How do you know? (if yes, give an
example)
5. Do the government leaders of each country follow the rule of law? Explain yes or no with an example
PART 3: Organize your information into a poster presentation comparing the two governments.
