Short title
This rule may be cited as the Coroners Amendment Rule (No. 1) 2001.

Rules amended
This rule amends the Coroners Rules 1959.

Amendment of s 2 (Definitions)
Section 2, definition “government medical officer”—
omit.

Replacement of s 17 (Allowances payable to a medical
practitioner for making a post-mortem or other examination)
Section 17—
omit, insert—
‘17 Allowances payable to a doctor for making a post-mortem or
other examination
‘(1) The allowances payable to the following persons for a post-mortem
or other examination are in schedule 3—
(a) a pathologist appointed to the part of Queensland Health known
as Queensland Health Pathology Services;
(b) a health service employee who is entitled to payment for
performing, and who performs, a post-mortem or other
examination outside the employee’s normal duties;
(c) a private doctor.
‘(2) In this section—
“health service employee” means a health service employee under the
Health Services Act 1991.
“private doctor” means a doctor who is not—
(a) a health service employee; or
(b) a public service employee.

‘17A Transitional—allowances for other reports
‘(1) This section applies if a doctor makes a post-mortem examination
before the commencement of this section, but reports on the examination to
the coroner after the commencement of this section.
‘(2) The allowances payable to the doctor are the allowances payable
immediately before the commencement of this section.
‘17B Transitional—allowances for other reports
‘(1) This section applies if, before the commencement of this section, a
doctor was asked to write a report (other than a post-mortem report), but
gives the report to the coroner after the commencement of this section.
‘(2) The allowances payable to the doctor are in schedule 3.’.
