accurately employs the correct tone—sadness, excitement, anger, thoughtfulness, fear, contempt, joy,
passion, confusion; responds to and understands well what the other characters in the scene are saying to
his character or about his character.
B
minor problems with pronunciation of words and enunciation; volume at times could be increased, as well
as enthusiasm, though this is rare; few problems with employing the correct tone; in general demonstrates
an understanding of comments of other characters during his scene.
C
consistent problems in one or more areas of pronunciation, enunciation, volume, energy; problems with the
natural rhythm of the dialogue; not consistently employing the correct tone; problems with awareness of
what other characters are saying in the scene.
D/F
student is clearly demonstrating a first reading of his part—too many occurrences of mispronunciations,
poor energy and volume; student has not prepared for this assignment.
