Day of Activities What to except at Climb for Cancer Frequently

Day of Activities
The Climb for Cancer is an event that brings many like minded individuals together that share
the same values and beliefs and promote healthy living, active lifestyles and a heart to help
others in any way they can. This is one hour, one day, every year that can make a major
difference in someone’s life. Supporting our local Hospital and Cancer Centre will help the many
lives around us who have been touched by cancer.
2016 is the 10th Climb for Cancer and the first at Tim Hortons Field. Participants will be climbing
a laid-out course or “loop” that is only about 7 steps different than the loop at the historic
Chedoke Stairs.
Climbers will have chosen from one of several time slots when registering. Those time slots are:
7am, 8:30am, 10am, 11:30am, 1pm and 2:30pm.
Climbers are asked to arrive no later than a half hour before their climb time begins to allow time
for registration and a proper warm-up provided by Momentum Fitness Club.
Every new time start begins an hour of determined people who are working to beat a personal
best or to practice healthy activity.
What to except at Climb for Cancer
You can expect a lively and high-energy atmosphere with everyone excited and happy and
ready to take on climbing stairs for an hour with real determination.
There will be a warm up preceding the climb and a cool down post climb by fitness
professionals from Momentum fitness and other fitness partners.
Water stations are along the concourse of the climb for participants and a lot of encouragement
and high-fives from our climb volunteers.
For those who are not climbing but have come to cheer on those who are, there is a special new
edition in the 10th Climb for Cancer in the end zone of Tim Hortons Field. The Family Fun Zone
will include fun activities, cheerleaders and CLF players along with Toronto Rock cheerleaders
to teach the spectators cheers and make noise for those who are participating in the climb.
All participants are given a “chip timer” that tracks how many steps you have taken during your
hour. When you are on your last loop before the hour is over, you will be directed to the middle
of Tim Hortons Field for your “home trek” down the middle of the field and finish in the end zone.
Watch yourself on the big screen as you come down that last stretch after an hour of climbing!
The day is amazing and we hope that you enjoy it as much as we enjoy putting it on year after
year – and more to come.

back to through the concourse down the stairs to start the route again.
Q: I am planning on walking the stairs. Is that ok?
A: Absolutely! The climbers who wish to 'run' the stairs will be asked to stay on left side of the
stairs (divided by handrails), while those who are looking to 'walk' the stairs will be able to do so
on the right.
Q: How will I know when the climb is over?
A: At the 45 minute mark we will be announcing climbers have 15 minutes left. At that time,
depending on where you are on the stairs and how long it takes you to do one lap, you have the

participants to go down and run across the field through the finish line.
