PTO MEETING MINUTES – October 17, 2016

There are 2 big events this week. Friday- Hawaii 5.0 for perfect attendance and the grand
breakfast Friday am.
There will be a phone reminder sent out for the grand event.
Treasurer’s Report: Nancy Smith (sent report via email)

Walkathon total was $12,569.11. New record. Account balance is $18,424.76.
Book Fair- Julie Hardin



Books will be delivered 10/17, Preview on 10/18, Sale dates 10/19-10/25, Pack up date 10/26;
There will also be additional sale dates 10/19 & 10/20, open during parent teacher conferences
until 6:00pm. Also, open on Friday am for the “grand” breakfast.
Julie needs volunteers for Friday am 7:15-8:15.
Schwan Cares- Julie Hardin


Julie has this set up to start November 13. She will send out an attachment in the November
newsletter.
The PTO gets 20% of the sales for the first 45 days then 5% of sales 90 days after that.
Texas Roadhouse Gift Cards- Julie Hardin


Lisa will work on this. Need to change the wording on the cards. It needs to be clear you can
use it multiple times for the blooming onion.
We should start selling early November so we can get sales for Christmas gifts.
Parent/Teacher Conference Meal- Lisa Manning

Lisa got a great response from all the parents. She will have everything ready on Wed &
Thursday around 2:30.
Meet the Candidate Night- Lisa Manning
 Planned for 10/27, she has heard back from all the candidates except one.
 Emails were sent out to high school and middle school and was also advertised in the monthly
newsletter.
 Discussions were made about the format. Each candidate will have a 5 minute introduction then
will get questions from the audience. Questions will be submitted to Lisa & Eric Wathen.
Other Business
 Craig Brelage had questions about why the PTO facebook page is closed. Discussions were
made. The main reasons are to keep the student activities secured, also, no student photos
are posted on the site due to privacy.


It was confirmed North Salem will have a Christmas program. Scheduled for December 13 &
14. The Pittsboro Fall Program has been canceled.
A new music teacher has been hired, Kathy Kern, she will start tomorrow. She is very
experienced.
