WhatisSonomaCheerAll-Stars?
SonomaCheerAll-Starsisacompetitivecheerprogramthatisopentochildrenages7to
17.OurgoalforSCAfollowsthatofTheU.S.All-StarFederationwhichis“Tosupportandenrich
thelivesofourAll-Starathletesandmembers.Weprovideconsistentrules,striveforasafe
environmentforourathletes,drivecompetitiveexcellence,andpromoteapositiveimagefor
thesport.”SonomaGymnasticsAcademyprovidesforthefollowingcheerlevels–Youth,Junior
andSenior.Theselevelshavepracticeschedulesrangingfrom4–9hourseachweek.These
levelsincludebothinternallyandexternallyhostedcompetitionsandcommunityevents.This
isNOTarecreationlevelprogramfor‘non-competitors’.AlltheathletesinthisAll-Star
programmustagreetoprepareforandparticipateincompetitiontothebestoftheirabilities.
IfanathleteisenrolledasanSCAcompetitor,theymustcompeteinalleventsunlessotherwise
arrangedwiththeSCAOwnerandHeadCoach.
TheprimarygoalforSCAistoprovideAll-StarCheertrainingandcompetitionsforkids
duringthecheerseason.Itisaperfectwaytoincreasetheirskilllevelandtointroducethemto
thecompetitiveworldofcheer.

CostsofAll-StarCheer:
Itisimportantthateveryoneunderstandsbeingonteammeansproviding“ontime”
paymentsofanyandalladdedfeesrelatedtoassessments,uniform,competitionentryfees,
clinics,etc.These‘additional’feesoccuratvarioustimesthroughouttheyearwith‘seasonal
patterns’thatyouwilllearnovertheyears.Youwillalwaysbenotifiedinadvanceofpayments
due.Generallyspeaking,ourcheerseasonisMaythruFebruary,withcompetitionsbeginningin
September.However,ourgoalistoadvanceandcontinueontocompeteatNationallevel
competitionsthatcouldlastuntilMarch/April.Inkeepingwithourneedtomaintainall
accounts,allcompetitiveparticipantsarerequiredtobeonauto-debitwithSonomaGymnastics
Academyormaintainacurrentcreditcardonfileinthecaseofmakingpaymentswithcashor
check.Theauto-debitformisprovidedatthefrontdesk.
Thescheduleandassociatedfeeswillbedeterminedbynumberofhoursinthegym,
competitionsweattend,uniformcost,etc.Allofwhichyouwillreceiveaheadoftime,however,
pleasebeawarethatcostsandlocationsaresubjecttochangeatanytime.SonomaCheerAllStarstaffmemberswilldoourbesttokeepyouupdatedandawareofanychanges.Personal
travelfeesarenotincluded(i.e.hotel,gas,airlines,etc.).

Non-RefundableYearlyMembershipFee:
SonomaGymnasticsAcademyrequiresup-to-date,annualregistrationforallteam
memberswhichiscurrently$75.00peryear,perathletetobebilledinJuly.
TuitionFees:
Thetuitionfeesaredueinfulleverymonthoftheyear(the1stofeachmonth).Ifyou
takeextendedvacations,yourfeesarestilldueinfulleverymonth.Thisisourwayof
ensuringyourcontinuedparticipationonourteamanddemonstratingyourcommitmentand
dedicationtothesport.Shouldyouanticipateoccasionalconflictswithourcurrentlyscheduled
trainingtimes,pleaseinformyourcoach.
CompetitionEntryFees:
All-StarCheercompetitionstakeplaceduringtheearlyFallmonthsandlastuntilSpring.
SCA’scompetitionwillbegininthebeginningofOctoberandwilllastuntiltheendofApril.
Therewillbeacompetitionentryfeeforyourchildforeverycompetitionweattend.Parents
areresponsibletopaythesefeesinadvance.
WARNING–Cancellations,includingillnessesandinjurieswillnotbeeligiblefora
refund.Competitionfeesmaybepaidmonthsinadvancesoimmediatewrittennotificationof
scheduleconflictstothecoachANDofficeiscriticaltoavoidcharges.
Uniforms:
Allathletefamilieswillhaveadditionalcostswithintheprogram;uniformsareoneof
thosecosts.Uniformsmaylastjust1year(competitiveseason)orupto3years,dependingon
theintegrityofthemanufacturingandofcourse,thegrowthofyourchildandlevelgraduation.
CoachesandSGAadministratorswilldeterminealluniformrequirements.Participantswillbe
requiredtopurchase,wear,andproperlymaintainallsuchuniforms.Wewillhavethesame
generaluniformforallCheerlevels.
Choreography:
Choreographyofcompetitionroutineswillberequired.Feesarechargedhourlybythe
choreographer,plusthecostsofmusic.Allprivatechoreographywillbepaiddirectlytothe
choreographer,whichmaybeyourprimarycoach,anotherSGAcoach,orwithSGA’s
permission,anoutsideexpert.Besureyouagreeonthepaymentmethodinadvancewith
whomeverisdoingthework.Generalmaintenanceandminoradjustmentswillbedonein
regularworkouts.

Attendance
Missingclassforpersonalreasons:
Everyteammemberisexpectedtoattendpractice.Therearefewreasonsthatare
acceptedasexcused.Familyemergencyandcontagiousillnessareamongthosethatmaybe
excusable.However,vacation,toomuchhomeworkoranothersportingeventareinexcusable
andnon-refundable.
Therearenomakeupsformissedteampractices,howeveryouarewelcomedand
encouragedtotakeadvantageofOpenGymsandusethistimetoworkonyourroutinesand
skills.
MissedclassesduetoSonomaCheerAcademycoach’sconflicts:
Onoccasion,coacheswillbeunabletoattendandcoachtheirnormaltrainingtimesdue
toconflictswithothercompetitionschedules,business-relatedtraveldays,orcoaches’training
–includingjudgingevents,code/rulesupdates,orgeneralon-goingeducation–includingstaff
meetings.Everyeffortwillbemadetoschedulearoundteampracticesoratleasttoprovidean
appropriatesubstituteinstructor,butwhenonecannotbescheduledfortheregulartime,it
shouldbeknownthatpracticewillbecancellednolessthan24hoursinadvance.Nomakeupor
creditwillbegivenwhencoachesareattendingtoSCAbusinesssuchasenhancingtheirown
growthorwhentravelingwith/forteams,orspecificathletes.Coachesmaychoosetoextend
practicetimeabitorofferanextraworkouttobalancemissedtime.
Itisexpectedthatyouwillattendandpayfortheentirecheerseasonexceptduring
theplannedclosureweeksontheSonomaGymnastics/CheerAcademyAnnualCalendar(11
Terms,4weeksperTerm).Ourcalendarprovides4weeksofdowntimeperyearwhichyouare
encouragedtotake,althoughcoachesmayhavesuggestionsonhowtoimprovethatdowntime
orshiftitpertrainingrequirements.
Everyeffortshouldbemadetoattendallteamfunctions(thoseotherthancompetitions)
particularlytheAnnualBanquet,whichisarecognitioneventheldonceayearfortheteam.In
theeventyoucannotattendcertainfunctionsduetofamilyemergencies,academicactivities,
religiousobligations,orothersportingevents,pleasebesureyourcoachANDtheoffice
receivesawrittennoteaboutmissedactivity.Remember,yourcoachestakecareoftrainingand
preparation,buttrainingfees,entries,forms,etc.arecompletedbyothersinvolvedinthe
administrationoftheprogram.Emailistheidealformofcommunicationforourstaffasit
providesadateandtime,andallowsyoutoinformseveralpeopleatonce.
Funexhibitionsanddemonstrationswillbeofferedfromtimetotime.Thesearegreat
opportunitiestoshowoffwhatYOURathletedoesandhowitcanbebeneficialtoothers.Itis
greatcommunityoutreachandit’sobviouslyawesomeforourathletestoperformandreceive
recognitionoutsideofthecompetitivearena.Wewillalwaysletyouknowaboutthese
opportunitiesinadvance.

TrainingReadiness:
Theathleteisexpectedtobedressedandreadytoparticipateuponarrival,whichshould
beascloseto5minutesbeforehandaspossible(notearlierorlater)togetcheckedinatthe
FrontDeskandbepreparedtotrain.
Registration&WaiverForms:weneedEmergencyContact,TravelWaiver,andConsent
toTreatformsfilledoutandreturnedtotheoffice.Wealsorequireacompletedandsigned
Parent/AthleteContract.
Remember–Athletesmustearncompetitionthroughpropertrainingand
readiness.OnlythePrimarycoachorTeamDirectorcanmakethefinaldecisionfor
competitionreadiness.
TravelingasaTeam:Whengoingtocompetitions,wewouldlikeyoutotrytotravel
togetherasateam.Parentsareexpectedtodriveindividualsforthemajorityofevents,butwe
encourageathletestravelingtogetherwiththeircoachesandteammates,thoughtheruleofnot
beingalonewithacoachoranotheradultremainsthesame.
