OUR GOAL:
Our goal is to help find a cure for cancer. In order to achieve this, we are organising
a fashion show and cocktail event where all net proceeds will be directed towards the
Australian Cancer Research Foundation, without receiving any financial benefit for
ourselves.
Cancer is Australia’s number one killer. The number of deaths increases annually.
One in three Australians will have to endure cancer at some point in their lives. Our TeamWhere Couture Meets The Cure- is supporting the Australian Cancer Research Foundation
in the hope that researchers will one day find a way to prevent, fight and cure cancer.
The suffering endured by those inflicted, their family and their friends, is
overbearing. Not only does the disease physically torment its patients, it also causes
months, even years, of mental anguish. As we know, treatments such as chemotherapy and
radiation are often unsuccessful, physically draining and painful to endure. Those who have
experienced such a battle first hand understand the degree to which it affects so many lives.
The injustice and heartache cancer causes has had a profound impact on each and everyone
one of us. It is with this mind, that we hope to help find a cure for cancer.
However, helping researchers to find a cure is not our only goal we wish to achieve
with this fashion show, we are also aiming to create a legacy for those who are no longer
with us. We are not only fighting for the victims but also for the children, the parents, the
partners, the brothers and sisters, the friends and family that have lost loved ones to cancer.
We are fighting to give hope to those who feel it no longer exists.
We have chosen to support the Australian Cancer Research Foundation because
they have a policy where every dollar donated will go directly towards cancer research.
1 WHO WE ARE:
We are a group of 19 and 20 year old girls who have recently finished high school,
but already have experience in the fashion industry, and in event planning. However, this is
not the only link we share. We are also a group of young girls that have suffered and
experienced the loss of loved ones whose lives have been taken from us to cancer.
Three years ago several of us organised a fashion show to raise money to assist the
millions of women living in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, who had suffered
immense terror as well as horrific rape. We managed to raise $60,000 with all proceeds
going towards Women for Women International, as our designated charity in 2007. Now
with a similar organising committee coupled with enthusiasm, determination and passion
we hope to raise an even greater sum money and our ultimate goal is to reach over
$150,000 in funds for the Australian Cancer Research Foundation. We are determined to
make a difference.
ABOUT THE EVENT:
On 28/09/2011 the Where Couture Meets The Cure team has created for you a night
of high-end fashion, live performances, silent yet deliciously delightful auctions, such as a
5 night stay in some of Thailand’s most luxurious hotels, and of course exquisite food and
lip smacking liquor.
This night of wonder will take place at the Dockside Convention Centre, Cockle
Bay Wharf, where an 800+ strong crowd will watch renowned designers like Alex Perry
and Carla Zampatti lighting up the runway, as our gorgeous Chic models pave the way to
finding a cure. This cocktail event will feature an open bar, including the exclusive
“Couture” cocktail and food catered by Dockside Convention Center.
We invite you to join us on this wonderful night of high-end couture for a drink, a
dance and ultimately to help us find a cure.
All money raised will be directed to the
Australian Cancer Research Foundation. With your help, highend couture may lead us to the cure we’ve been looking for.
