Galleons bursting with gold are a royal treat for gentle

Galleons bursting with gold are a royal treat for gentlemen of fortune roaming the seas. Mighty pirate lords look
forward to find the right crew in the port and start boarding the passing merchant convoys. But seizing the gold is
only half the battle — the real trick is to share it!
In Pirate Lords you will need to gather masters of helm
and virtuosos of cutlass and pistol, and then bargain vigorously with other players for your prize. Only together
pirates can break through merchants’ defenses. Will you
succumb to your greed or choose to be generous and
share your reward? Make sure to make up your mind
in time to win the game.

Example: the players are Alice, Bill, Charles and Diana.
Now it is Bill’s turn. He draws a card: it is a ship, and he
puts it in the middle of the table. The convoy now consists of
5 ships. He draws another card: it is a gunslinger. Now the
players have two pirates of each class on the table, and Bill
decides to suggest raiding the convoy. He pushes forward
his gunslinger and boarder (he has another boarder but
doesn’t push him forward), skips Charles (who has a sailor
and a boarder) and pushes forward Diana’s gunslinger and
boarder (now she has no pirates left) and two sailors of Alice (she still has another boarder). Then he moves two ships
to himself, two to Diana and one to Alice.

Example: Diana agrees with Bill’s arrangement; Alice,
however, wants a bigger prize. After a brief discussion Bill
agrees to give her two trophy cards and take only one for
himself. All three are in agreement now, and Charles’ opinion does not matter as his sailors are not a part of the raid.
7
Note: if you have two pirate cards of each class, you may raid the
convoy all alone. In this case you do not need the consent of other
players and the prize will be all yours. However, due to the Three
Card Rule this situation is unlikely.

Example:
four points and three cards worth two points. He keeps one
card for himself – a four-point one, of course. He then gives
another four-point card and a two-point card to Diana, and
the two remaining two-point cards to Alice.
8
Note: the initiator of the raid (the current player) is the one to
decide which card goes to whom. Sometimes it is better to decline
the invitation to take part in the raid so that you could make the
same suggestion on your turn, when you will be the one to divide
the trophies.

Example: after the raid Alice and Bill each have one boarder, Diana has no pirates and Charles, who was not a part of
the raid, still has both sailor and his boarder.
