The quadratic formula
Introduction
Quadratic equations can also be solved using the quadratic
formula.
The formula is
The formula is used to work out the solutions of a standard
quadratic of the form
Where a, b and c are rational numbers with a ≠ 0.
When I was in secondary school we used to call this formula
‘The almighty quadratic formula’

Identification of the values to use for a, b, c
Example
Identify the values of a, b, c for each of the quadratic
equations for use with the quadratic formula.
1) 7x2 + 22x + 3 = 0
5) 3x + 7 + 2x2 = 0
