Western dress or skirt and western shirt, hat, belt, and boots (keep in mind this does not mean a leather dress) Modeling, Speeches, and Impromptu Questions Attire o Queen – western dress or skirt and blouse, hat, belt, and boots o Junior Queen – Western dress or shirt and western shirt, hat, belt, and boots Speech topics o Queen – “Tell about your State” or a “Western Theme” (2 ½ min time limit) o Junior Queen - “Share a learning experience with a horse” or a “Western Theme” (2 min time limit) Dinner with your family, close friends and judges Horsemanship in the Preston Rodeo Arena Attire – Wrangler jeans, long sleeved western shirt, hat, belt, and boots Queen contestants will run their first pattern (see revers for pattern) Plus Flag presentation Junior Queen contestants will run their pattern (see revs side) Plus Flag presentation Queen contestants will do a freestyle reining pattern (see reverse side for details) approx. Coronation of That Famous Preston Night Rodeo Royalty RULES AND EXPECTATIONS Contest will be run according to the Miss Rodeo America Official Rule Book Royalty will consist of the Queen with 1st and 2nd Attendants and Junior Queen with 1st and 2nd Attendants Royalty must use same horse for parade and rodeo as was used in the contest Royalty is expected to represent That Famous Preston Night Rodeo as their #1 priority at parades during the 4th of July, 24th of July, and our parade and rodeo July 27th, 28th, 29th, Other appearances may also be required. Royalty must be available during the week of the rodeo to help with radio announcements, signing autographs, etc. If you can be any place else and advertise for our rodeo it would be very much appreciated! Remember you are an ambassador to the sport of RODEO!! Royalty MUST be in western attire with hat, crown, and banner at ALL appearances while representing That Famous Preston Night Rodeo. If the rules are not followed, all prizes won in the contest will be forfeited. e HORSEMANSHIP PATTERN Junior Queen Contestants: Enter Mounted Senior Queen Contestants: Lead horse in, then mount Proceed at a walk or trot to the center of the arena facing the left wall or fence. 1. Beginning on the right lead, complete three circles to the right: the first circle small and slow; the next two circles large and fast. Change leads at the center of the arena. 2. Complete three circles to the left: the first circle small and slow; the next two circles large and fast. Change leads at the center of the arena. 3. Continue around previous circle to the right. At the top of the circle, run down the middle to the far end of the arena past the end marker and do a right rollback – no hesitation. 4. Run up the middle to the opposite end of the arena past the end marker and do a left rollback – no hesitation. 5. Run past the center marker and do a sliding stop. Back up to the center of the arena or at least ten feet (three meters). Hesitate. 6. Senior Contestants complete four spins to the right. Hesitate. Junior Contestants complete one spin to the right. Hesitate. Gate 7. Senior Contestants complete four spins to the left. Hesitate. Junior Contestants complete one spin to the left. Flag Presentation Exit Arena ====================================================================================== FREESTYLE PATTERN DETAILS (Senior Contestants Only) The second go-round of the senior division horsemanship will be a freestyle pattern. Details are as follows: Must contain the following 6 elements: Stop, Back, Lead Change (both directions), Rollbacks, Spin (both directions), and Speed Transition Must furnish own music on CD, iPod Nano, or iPod Classic Contestants will be given a maximum of 3 minutes to complete freestyle pattern Costumes are encouraged!
