We would like to personally invite you to our annual Famous Preston Night Rodeo Queen Contest and Junior
Queen Contest!
WHEN: Saturday, June 3th 2017
WHERE: Preston Rodeo Grounds
AGE GROUPS:
 Junior Queen: 10-15 years old by time of contest
 Queen: single women 16-23 years old by time of contest
AREA: Open to young ladies residing in Idaho, Utah & Wyoming .
ENTRY DEADLINE: Wednesday May 31st (please call Sheryl to confirm she received your application)
ENTRY FEES: Junior Queen $20; Senior Queen $25 (required with application)
AWARDS: cash awards, beautiful buckles, category awards, and gifts for each contestant

TENTATIVE SCHEDULE
Sign in at the Robinson Building (blue building south of the arena) for orientation/draw numbers
Personal Interview with judges
 Attire o Queen – western dress or skirt and Western shirt, hat, belt, and boots
o Junior Queen – Change from years past. Western dress or skirt and western shirt, hat,
belt, and boots (keep in mind this does not mean a leather dress)
Modeling, Speeches, and Impromptu Questions
 Attire o Queen – western dress or skirt and blouse, hat, belt, and boots
o Junior Queen – Western dress or shirt and western shirt, hat, belt, and boots
 Speech topics
o Queen – “Tell about your State” or a “Western Theme” (2 ½ min time limit)
o Junior Queen - “Share a learning experience with a horse” or a “Western Theme”
(2 min time limit)
Dinner with your family, close friends and judges
Horsemanship in the Preston Rodeo Arena
 Attire – Wrangler jeans, long sleeved western shirt, hat, belt, and boots
 Queen contestants will run their first pattern (see revers for pattern) Plus Flag presentation
 Junior Queen contestants will run their pattern (see revs side) Plus Flag presentation
 Queen contestants will do a freestyle reining pattern (see reverse side for details)

RULES AND EXPECTATIONS
Contest will be run according to the Miss Rodeo America Official Rule Book
Royalty will consist of the Queen with 1st and 2nd Attendants and Junior Queen with 1st and 2nd Attendants
Royalty must use same horse for parade and rodeo as was used in the contest
Royalty is expected to represent That Famous Preston Night Rodeo as their #1 priority at parades during the
4th of July, 24th of July, and our parade and rodeo July 27th, 28th, 29th, Other appearances may also be
required. Royalty must be available during the week of the rodeo to help with radio announcements, signing
autographs, etc. If you can be any place else and advertise for our rodeo it would be very much appreciated!
Remember you are an ambassador to the sport of RODEO!!
Royalty MUST be in western attire with hat, crown, and banner at ALL appearances while representing That
Famous Preston Night Rodeo.
If the rules are not followed, all prizes won in the contest will be forfeited.

HORSEMANSHIP PATTERN
 Junior Queen Contestants: Enter Mounted
 Senior Queen Contestants: Lead horse in,
then mount
 Proceed at a walk or trot to the center of
the arena facing the left wall or fence.
1. Beginning on the right lead, complete
three circles to the right: the first circle small
and slow; the next two circles large and fast.
Change leads at the center of the arena.
2. Complete three circles to the left: the first
circle small and slow; the next two circles
large and fast. Change leads at the center of
the arena.
3. Continue around previous circle to the
right. At the top of the circle, run down the
middle to the far end of the arena past the
end marker and do a right rollback – no
hesitation.
4. Run up the middle to the opposite end of
the arena past the end marker and do a left
rollback – no hesitation.
5. Run past the center marker and do a
sliding stop. Back up to the center of the
arena or at least ten feet (three meters).
Hesitate.
6. Senior Contestants complete four spins
to the right. Hesitate.
Junior Contestants complete one spin to
the right. Hesitate.
Gate
7. Senior Contestants complete four spins
to the left. Hesitate.
Junior Contestants complete one spin to
the left.

FREESTYLE PATTERN DETAILS
(Senior Contestants Only)
The second go-round of the senior division horsemanship will be a freestyle pattern. Details are as follows:
 Must contain the following 6 elements: Stop, Back, Lead Change (both directions), Rollbacks, Spin (both
directions), and Speed Transition
 Must furnish own music on CD, iPod Nano, or iPod Classic
 Contestants will be given a maximum of 3 minutes to complete freestyle pattern
 Costumes are encouraged! Have Fun! Be Creative!

Acknowledgement of Risk: The undersigned acknowledges that rodeo queen competitions involve activities
which expose the contestant to risk of property damage, personal injury, or death. The Undersigned expressly
acknowledges that her participation in the Rodeo Queen and Junior Queen Contest will expose her to such
hazards.
Release of Rodeo Committee: The Undersigned, being fully aware that participation in the Rodeo Queen Contest
will expose her to risk of property damage, personal injury or death, hereby releases That Famous Preston Night
Rodeo Committee and Queen Committee from liability for any and all property damage, personal injuries or
claims arising from the Undersigned’s participation in the Rodeo Queen Contest including those that are known
and unknown, foreseen and unforeseen, future and contingent.
Covenant Not To Sue: The Undersigned covenants that the Undersigned shall not now or at any time in the
future, directly or indirectly, commence or prosecute any action, suit or other proceedings against That Famous
Preston Night Rodeo Committee and Queen Committee (or their officers, directors, employees, agents or
affiliates).
Assurances: The Undersigned has full power, authority, capacity and right, without limitations, to execute, deliver
and perform this release.
Binding Effect: This Release shall be binding upon the Undersigned and the Undersigned’s parents, legal
representative or guardians.
This release has been carefully and fully read by the Undersigned and the Undersigned fully understands its
