THIRD TERM NEWS LETTER JULY 2015 Dear honourable parents, We have come to the end of another academic year. We thank God for His favour in the outgoing year 2014/2015 academic session. The new curriculum was effectively implemented in terms of both the academic and co-curricular activities. Our children had the rare opportunity of participating in different competitions and programmes within and outside the school. VACATION CLASSES There will be vacation classes this year scheduled as follows: Period – 9: 00am – 1: 30pm Duration – 4 weeks (July 27 – August 20, 2015) Excluding Fridays Fees - N25, 000 It will be packaged with a lot of activities and core- subjects. Interested parents should register with the school. For more inquiries call 08072624288 for Nursery/Primary section. SCHOOL VACATION/RESUMPTION School vacates on Monday July 13, 2015. SCHOOL ATTIRE Pupils are expected to be properly dressed to school by wearing their appropriate uniforms with white socks and black shoes to match. They will only be permitted to wear white canvas shoes on physical education days (PE). The only school cardigan that is allowed is that of Raberto school. Improper dressing will not be allowed next term. Please comply by cooperating with us. PUNCTUALITY They say punctuality is the soul of business. We really appreciate the enormous sacrifice of parents for bringing their ward(s) to school and picking them immediately after classes. However, we have observed that a larger percentage of the children come to school late. We therefore urge our parents to endeavor to bring our children on time. Our resumption time is 7:30 am and close at 3:00pm: Monday – Thursday and 12:30pm on Friday for Nursery/primary. ELECTION OF PREFECTS FOR 2015/2016 SESSION The election was held by means of the open ballot system. Both teachers and pupils had the privilege to vote for the candidate of their choice in a very safe, clear and transparent manner. Result of the election developed the following in their various positions. 1. 2. 3. 4. Head boy – Imam Adam Assistant head boy – Saidu Mohammed Head girl – Osuagwu Onyinyechi Assistant head girl – Oluwade Samara Other positions shall be filled when school resumes next term. SKILL ACQUISITION In line with the Federal Government’s skill acquisition programme, pupils were taught how to make liquid soap, air freshener and Vaseline jelly in the cause of the session, apart from academic. Pupils were able to produce the above mentioned products on their own. Some of these products were displayed and purchased by parents; in order to support and encourage our pupils. This vision should not stop here. Rather parents should provide all the necessary materials for pupils to continue the production at home. FLOWER/ COLOUR DAY CELEBRATION We use this medium to appreciate our parents who created time out of their busy schedules to attend our “flower and colour day celebration” which was coined at helping the pupils and parents to appreciate the work of nature and to highlight the beauty and importance of colours. SCOUT The scout club had a three – day camping programme at Gwarimpa Government Junior secondary school on Friday June 12 – Sunday 14, 2015. The aim of the programme was to celebrate scout’s centenary anniversary and to train new cub scouts on various scout rudiments. Certificates of participation were given to the pupils. MUSIC DEPARTMENT The music department participated in an inter – school performing arts competition held on April 23, 2015. Our pupils performed excellently well and their presentation depicted the story of Nigeria from independence till date. They played the musical instruments and sang without assistance from their teachers. It was awesome. EXCURSIONS Grade one went to Skye Bank. The visit was aimed at acquainting the pupils the opportunity of seeing some of the activities and operations that go on in banks. Some selected representatives of primary and secondary section went on excursion to the National Assembly on Thursday June 21, 2015. They were ushered in by sergeant- at Arms, Education- excursion units where the pupils/students were educated on various function of each department. NATIONAL SPELLING BEE COMPETITION Our primary pupils participated in the 8th National spelling bee competition. They did well in spite of the fact that they competed with junior and senior secondary schools. We are proud of our pupils. JOINT P.T.A. EXECUTIVE MEEETING We appreciate our dependable parents for their constant support in attendance and contributions towards the progress of the school. APPRECIATION We thank our noble parents for their support and co-operation all these years and also look forward to better relation ahead. We can always count on you.
