What’s Included
This set includes eight Spanish-language books that have been selected to
support the comprehension strategy instruction in Making Meaning grade 2.
While the books in this set have been chosen to correspond with specific
units and comprehension strategies, they are not intended to replace specific
English-language read-aloud texts within the units. Rather, each book offers
additional opportunities for teachers instructing in Spanish to support or
extend the unit’s instruction in whatever way works best for them or their
particular group of students.
This set includes eight Spanish-language books that have been selected to

• Use the Spanish text in place of the English read-aloud text for a week
of instruction that you identify (you might reteach the week’s lessons
using the English read-aloud text)

Being a Writer, Second Edition, support teachers instructing Spanishspeaking students in grades K–5. The books in these sets have been chosen

exemplary writing that stimulates the students’ imaginations and fuels their
motivation to write. Teachers may use each text to support or extend the
unit’s instruction. The sets contain 30 titles in total, 3–6 titles per grade.
