Deep East Texas Electric Cooperative is proud to announce that we will again be sponsoring two area high
school students on the 2015 Government-in-Action Youth Tour to Washington DC! Nearly 1,500 students
from 44 states participate in the Electric Cooperative Youth Tour program each year.
The 2015 Youth Tour will begin in Austin, Texas with tours of the Governor’s Mansion, Texas State Capitol and
the Bob Bullock Museum and will include a celebration the tour’s 50 th anniversary. Following the Austin tour,
the group will depart to Washington, DC on a seven day tour to include: The Supreme Court and Library of
Congress, Washington National Cathedral, Arlington National Cemetery, George Washington’s home at Mount
Vernon, Smithsonian Institution and Holocaust Memorial Museum, Jefferson, Lincoln and Franklin D.
Roosevelt memorials, Vietnam, World War II and Korean memorials, the Washington Monument and much
more!
ELIGIBILITY:

Current high school sophomore or junior attending a high school in the Deep East Texas
Electric Cooperative service area.

Application must include:
o Two (2) letters of recommendation from two of applicant’s current teachers.
o Copy of your high school transcript.
o A recent 3 x 4” color photo (head shot preferred).
o Signature of both applicant and parent/guardian.

Application must be postmarked no later than February 13, 2015.
