Newsela Assignment Details!
1st Newsela assignment is DUE on Monday, October 10th (monday night)/ The
annotation/article analysis form and the vocabulary is DUE on Tuesday (in class)
Directions:
1) Please log-in to Newsela and join our class, using our class code!
Period 8 Class Code: ​7W2J6Y
Period 9 Class Code: ​2GSTTE
2) Your assignment every week is to read an article on NewsELA, complete the quiz, and
annotate the article using the annotation guide/template provided by Miss Rivera ​(example will
be provided!).
3) Your NewsELA assignment is due every Monday by 8am. (NewsELA may be completed
during the weekend.) ​The first assignment is due on Monday, October 10th.

In addition to the analysis form, you must also complete the vocabulary (Frayer
Model). You should have at least two per article.
For now, please don’t worry about the URL or the Bibliography!!
Since you are doing the analysis form, you DO NOT have to do the writing prompt
4) Each fully completed article is worth 10 points.
5) In order to receive credit, you must read the article, take the quiz at the lexile set for you,
and complete the annotation form. You may not change the lexile.
6) If you do not have access to a computer at home, you may use my computer after school or
visit the Media Center. The Media Center is open until 3:30pm.
Since NewsELA is a weekly assignment, it will not be accepted late for half credit​..
