Installation Options
The installation wizard is now offering different options:
Typical: looks for existing installations (either M-Print PRO and/or Eplan Export interface) and installs
an update
Custom: allows to select both, one or none
Complete: installs both M-Print PRO and Eplan Export interface
If M-Print PRO is installed without Eplan interface first, this can be done later on by starting setup.exe
again. Please select “Change” and then “Custom” to select the EPLAN Electric P8 Addon:
Notice: the Addon can be implemented automatically into EPlan Electric P8 version 2.1 and higher. The
manual implementation in older versions is explained in the tutorial.pdf.

Barcodes
M-Print® PRO is expanded towards six other barcode types.
1. UPC A
UPC A (Universal Product Code) has 12 digits and can be featured in numbers from 0 to 9. A
product can unambiguously be assigned to the manufacturer or retailer by the first six digits of the
UPC A code (also known was GTIN 12). The digits from seven up to eleven can be allocated to the
th
products by the user. The 12 digit is a check digit which is calculated by M-Print® PRO after
Modulo 10 with an emphasis of 3.
2. UPC E
The eight-digit UPC code is a compressed version of the UPC A code and intended for smallvolume articles. By suppressing zeros, certain sequences of the twelve-digit series can be featured
in a short version. When decoding, a replenishment of zeros takes place and a complete number
accrues again.
3. EAN-8
EAN 8 is a short version of the EAN-13 code. As a rule this code is only for articles, which have not
enough space for the EAN-13 code on the packaging. This is given when the EAN-13 code would
cover more than 25 % of the front surface. EAN-8 numbers are limited, that is why they are only
allocated on application. Additionally to the application a sample of the article needs to be attached
as a requirement proof.
An EAN-8 code always consists of 8 digits:
- A three-digit prefix. The prefix identifies the organisation which is assigned by EAN.
- The four-digit article identification.
- The check digit. You do not need to enter the check digit in ActiveBarcode, it will be calculated
and attached automatically.

4. EAN-128
The GS1-128 serves the trading and the industry, especially the good and palette labelling. The old
title is EAN/UCC-128.
GS1-128 or EAN/UCC 128 is a special form of the 128 code. He intends the use of a special figure
called FNC1 right after the start figure. This succession of start figure and FNC1 at the beginning is
a unique characteristic for a GS1-128 or EAN/UCC 128. ActiveBarcode generates the start figure
and the following FNC1 for you automatically.
The length of the code is variable, but it should not exceed 165 mm. In total a maximum of 48
figures (incl. data identifier/Als and FNC1 separators) can be coded.
In a GS1-128 or EAN/UCC 128 barcode, several data can be coded at the same time.
To code the different data in one barcode there is an international standard for data identifier that
shows which data is coded. This is called Application Identifier. A barcode could look like this:
5. QR-Code
The QR code consists of a square matrix. The special markings (in three of four corners) give an
orientation. The size of the code needs to be between 21x21 and 177x177 points.
6. Data Matrix Code
The data matrix code can be made and read without reference to the manufacturer of the printer or
reader. Several options for the data matrix code are selectable:
•
•
•
•
•
•

Increment and Decrement
Increment counts forwards - continuing the value of the previous field (Shift + F8).
Decrement is used for counting backwards (Shift + F7).
The steps can be set under Tools\Options\Default:
Increment:
Decrement:
Embed images and save as…
In M-Print® PRO graphics can be linked or embedded.
Under Tools > Options > General you can set, if graphics shall be linked or be embedded by default.
When “linked“ is set, the menu item „Embed images and save as“ under „File“ will be active.
To get embedded graphics back as a file the menu item „Save as image“ needs to be selected.

Zoom
If you keep Ctrl pressed and move the mouse wheel, the zoom factor will be changed:
• Ctrl + wheel backward Æ minimize
• Ctrl + wheel forward Æ maximize
• Ctrl + 0 Æ 100% will be shown
The zoom factor is changing in 5 percentage steps.
Group
Several graphic elements of the same field type on one marker can be grouped. This means that
changing features affects the whole group. It is possible to assemble several elements as a group.
With one click on the group it can be selected.
Attention: By clicking on „Ungroup“ further groups will stay grouped.
Element Defaults
Here you have the opportunity to set the defaults (Tools > Options > Element Defaults).
All settings for text boxes, rectangles, lines, round text boxes, graphics, ellipses, barcodes and rounded
rectangles can be defined.

Rounding edges
In the toolbar there is an icon for „Rounded rectangle“ available.
Now you can draw a rectangle with rounded edges here.
Standard radii for rounded edges can be set under Tools > Options
Batch command with *.bis-files
*.bis files are now supported at command line call.
That means an import script for this kind of import can be settled via batch import. The generated .bis
file (Batch-Import-Script) can be executed via command line (Start – Execute) without reference to MPrint PRO.
Example:
"C:\Program Files\weidmueller\mprintpro\MPrintPRO.exe" "c:\Program Files\weidmueller\
mprintpro\data\BIStest.bis"
Symmetry (Rectangle -> Square, Ellipse -> Circle …)
To all drawing elements applies:
•
•
If you paste them with pressed shift key, the side lengths x and y will be set on the same value so
the element will be drawn symmetrically
If you pull them with pressed shift key, the side lengths x and y will be set on the same value to
make the element symmetrically
Stop print job
For importing and printing subsequently at the batch call, an additional option for stopping the printing
job is given.

Opening RDE files
The scan function for RDE files fills the fields according to the title.
An adjustment for the text box titles needed to be made, because the names have not been identical.
Now RDE files independent of text box titles can be scanned/read (Fields with attributes like Tab=0 or
Read-Only=true are skipped).
Separate menu for printer settings
In the new version the menu items „Set Printer Correction…“ and „Set Material-dependent Slip…“ are
not found in „File“ anymore but in „Tools“:
Hide password protection and menus
In the area of “Menu Administration” (Tools > Options > Menu Administration) the administrator can
affect, if all menu items can be used by the user or if individual items are hidden, protected by
passwords or available! By choosing „Set all enabled“, „Set all protected“, „Set all disabled“ or the
selection of individual functions, the settings will be effective after restarting the software.

Print quality
The print quality of PrintJet PRO is now changeable individually on the info page of the marker types.
The print quality of the PrintJet PRO does not need to be laid down in the settings under „Options“
imperatively. It can also be assigned freely to every marker on the info page.
Scale creating
a) Rounded Scale
A round scale is a scale with a circular
arc as a baseline. The scale is
arranged clockwisely along the circular
arc. Choose „Rounded scale“ in the
drawing menu and enter radius, height
of scale, starting angle and end angle
into the dialogue. The height of the
scale meets the height of the long
separation lines.
Insert round scale (Insert \ Rounded
Scale)
Example:

b) Linear Scale
Insert linear scale (Insert \ Scale)
Example:
Other heating levels
Since the PrintJet PRO system is able to print on metal cards another heating level (heating 3) is
necessary. The default gives the right heating level automatically, but the user is able to change the
figure on the info page!

Map marker type
With the new version of MPP the user has the opportunity to assign several colour variations of the
markers to different printers. While assigning, you will be asked if only this variation or all variations of
this marker should be assigned to the printer.
Example:
Choose the suitable printer and click on „assign“. The following window will appear:
Î If you click on “Yes”, all variations (colours) will be assigned to the printer.
Î If you click on „No“, only the respective colour variation is assigned to the printer.
Adjust marker type
With the new version the material dependent slip for different colours can be adjusted. Up to now the
measuring logarithms were only possible for the respective product incl. all colour variations.
Endless marking and THM Plus S
With the new version, endless marking (e.g. on KSW) is possible. The number of elements (e.g.
terminals), the width of the elements (pitch) and the number of label lines can be entered.
Even cross connections are possible as element type:
To implement the connector symbol you can use “Properties” or Insert -> Connector

Option „Cutter Settings“ in conjunction with THM Plus S
The cuting settings can be made directly in MPP under Tools > Options > THM Plus S. The user can
choose between:
- Windows driver settings
- Never cut
- Cut at end of a page
- Cut at end of job
- Cut every xxx pages

The font size can also be defined bigger than 127pt. So labels can be used e.g. for stock labelling:
Installation of EPLAN Electric P8 Interface
While updating MPP version 5.0 it will be checked if EPLAN Electric P8 is already installed. As soon as
it is spotted the MPP interface for printing data exchange is automatically implemented in EPLAN. In
this connection an AddOn is offered after you restart EPLAN Electric P8. For activating the interface the
following requests need to be accepted:

Page 13
M-Print PRO v 5.0
The manual implementation of the interface into older EPlan versions is described in the manual
tutorial.pdf.
Cell size in data grid
The sizes of the column width and the line height can be saved for the single marker as well as for
every project in the data grid. The selection applies for the current and all further marker types, so it
creates a standard. When selecting a new marker and adjusting the cell sizes, it will only be for this
marker but not for the previously selected marker.
