Kerry Biggin, Resident Artist, leading a workshop at William Patten Primary School Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures & Re:Bourne are recruiting a new cohort of emerging Community Dance Artists to participate in a series of four residential weekends. This is an exceptional professional development opportunity for dance practitioners working in communities across England. Who Are We Looking For? We are looking to recruit 15 dance artists, who use a variety of dance styles, who are under 35 years old and have been working in community settings for less than five years. We hope to find a group of artists whose work spans both urban and rural settings and who represent the diversity of contemporary England. What We Offer Over the course of twelve months the selected cohort of artists will take part in four residential weekends at the Company’s base at Farnham Maltings in Surrey. Each residential will comprise of practical workshops, class and skills-sharings as well as inspirational guest teachers from a wide variety of dance backgrounds sharing their practice. Workshops in areas such as fundraising, time-management and networking aim to provide the cohort with a range of skills to support successful careers as community dance artists. The training is funded by Arts Council England and travel expenses, accommodation and per diems are provided.
