EXPRESSI. APPRECIATION TO JOSEPtf HIRSCH FOR OUTSTAHOING PUBlIC S£RVICE
AS A MEMBER OF THE PUNNING COMMISSION
WHEREAS, Joseph Hirsch has served the Ctty of Palo Alto as a ..-bar of
the Planning C~is$ion fro. August 1, 1983 to July 31, 1991; and
WHEREAS, Joseph Hlrsch has been an active .elber of the Planning
Com.1$s1on by serving as Chairman from August 1, 1989 to July 31, 1990, as
Yice-Chair=L~ from August 1, 1988 to July 31, 1989, and IS a ~r of various

WHEREAS, Joseph Hirsch has unselfishly contributed hf~ knu41edga and
to C9mmiSS10n deiiberations and has assisted the C~i$sicn in
articulating its positions on the .any planning issues it considers; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Hirsch's significant personal contributions have been
made in the interest of guiding the development of the cOIBUnity whfle
striving to .ainta1n icportant social values; and
WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto wishes to acknowledge and thank Joseph
Hirsch for his personal pride in the community and his significant personnl
efforts and endless hours of devotion as a member of the Planning Co=aissi~n,
including hours spent in consideration of the ft-l Single Fa.ily Zoning
regulations, the Multiple-Family Zoning regulations, the Citywide Land Use and
Transportation Study, the Downtown Study, the Palo Alto Medical Foundation
Exp~,sion Plant and the ~~using Element update, aod ~ny applications for zone
changes, subdivisions, parcel ~aps, site and d~sign revi~s. a~ environ.ental
i~act reports, and, on occasion, appeals from the actions of the Zoning

NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Palo
Alto hereby gratefully records and extends its sincere appreciation and the
appreciati~' of the community to Joseph Hirsch for his fait~ful and excellent
service rendered to the City.
