“I have had a long love affair with the Australian wine
industry; the first winery I ever visited was in
Margaret River and I used to work for Constellation
Europe when they owned a large number of premium
wine brands from Australia. I’ve always admired the
Aussie can-do attitude and unpretentious approach
to wine. Australia is capable of producing world class
wines, but these have been lost in the UK where a
disproportionate amount of Aussie wine is entry level,
bulk wine which have no provenance. A lot of
premium aussie producers have become
disillusioned with the UK and pulled out because of
pressures around currency and artificially low price
points, I believe that wines with personality and
quality that the consumer can relate to, can buck the
trend. Aussie Rules champions small, artisan
producers from premium regions who produce
outstanding wines that reflect the true essence of

Rob dolan
Standing six feet six tall, Rob Dolan is an aussie rules football god in his home City of Adelaide,
where he can’t walk down the street without being asked for an autograph. It seems somewhat
unreal that such a giant of a man can make wines of such elegance and finesse.
Rob has been making wines in the Yarra valley for over 20 years and has played a huge role in the
evolution of the Yarra valley. In 2011, Rob acquired the Yarra Burn winery from Accolade wines, a
state of the art winery equipped with every toy a winemaker could possibly hope for. 2012 saw
the maiden release of his own range, aptly called “Rob Dolan”. The True colours range is a
reference to the fact that Rob never hides his true colours, as a man he is friendly, approachable
and instantly likeable....just like the true colour range which is fruit forward, approachable with
great character. The white label range are serious cool climate, hand made wines that are
absolutely stunning.
In September 2013, Rob Dolan wines won the coveted James Halliday “2014 newcomer winery of
the year” award. I have been literally blown away by the quality of the wines that Rob produces.
His Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are benchmarks for the region, while the cool climate Cabernet
and Shiraz are simply stunning.
Rob is a passionate guy, I can see that he loves seeing potential in people and developing this for
the good of the industry. The winery also doubles as a consultant winemaking facility so there are
more winemakers on site that you can shake a stick at. The winery is also home to countless
rescued dogs. Certainly paradise for both!

A classy, cool climate Chardonnay that
is well balanced and has good varietal
characteristics. The nose shows
tropical fruits and toasty oak, the palate
has flavours of stone fruits and a
luscious creaminess and refreshing
acidity.
TRUE COLOURS, Sauvignon Semillon
Yarra Valley
12% abv
Unoaked
Intense citrus fruits on the nose give
way to tropical notes of Guava and
pineapple on the palate, which is clean
and fresh with racy acidity. The finish is
long and rewarding.
TRUE COLOURS, Cab Shiraz Merlot
Yarra Valley
13.5% abv
8 months in oak (15% new)
One of the best CSM blends I have
tasted in a long time. The 3 varietals
that make up the blend are there for
all to see. Cabernet giving the back
bone, Shiraz brings the spice and
pepper, while the Merlot brings
gorgeous, bright fruit. Notes of
chocolate and vanilla develop on the
palate. Simply fantastic.

The Yarra is synonymous with Pinot and
this is a great example. The nose shows
plums and light spice, while the palate
opens up with classic notes of cherries
and spicy oak with silky tannins.

A really well made Chardonnay, only 5%
of the wine underwent malolactic
fermentation, ensuring the wine remains
fresh, clean and racy. Grapefruit, white
peach are on the nose with a hint of nut
from the oak. The palate is really fresh
and clean with a nice minerality and well
integrated oak. Sensational stuff!
WHITE LABEL, Cabernet Sauvignon

Elegant, cool climate Cabernet. Ripe
Blackberry on the nose with savoury oak
and a hint of chocolate. The palate is
really well integrated with blackcurrant
and rounded tannins.
WHITE LABEL, Pinot Noir
Yarra Valley

10 months in barrel (20% new)
One of the best Pinot's I have ever tasted
outside of Burgundy. The nose has
aromas of black cherry, plums and spice,
while the palate is really moreish with
savour notes and a velvety texture.
WHITE LABEL, Shiraz
Yarra Valley

Forget everything you know about big,
powerful Aussie Shiraz. This is a Shiraz
with elegance and finesse. Notes of
bright cherries and raspberries are
balanced with savoury characteristic.
The white pepper and cloves on the
palate work really well with the fruit profile
of this wine. This finish is succulent with
long, fine tannins.
