Our Principles of Work Contact Details To ensure that our methods correspond with our goals, we are guided by the following principles: Program Office Phnom Penh # 60, Monivong Bv. (Online/Sony-Building) 2nd floor; room 207 - 208 Phnom Penh, Cambodia Email: [email protected] Systemic approach. We see conflict and its transformation as a complex process. We work with tools that address structural causes of conflicts and aim to transform attitudes and behaviour of conflicting parties. All-partisanship. We operate as “third party”, hence, we are not taking sides of any conflict party. We are treating the perceptions, needs and legitimate interests of all parties with equal respect and looking for potential points of convergence between them. Participatory approach. We believe in the strengthening of participatory and inclusive structures which allow the longterm transformation of physical and structural violence. 'We envision a Cambodian society that by dealing constructively with its violent past is empowered to transform current conflicts in non-violent and inclusive ways'. The scope of work of forumZFD in Cambodia is characterized by the following: forumZFD implements programs of the Civil Peace Service in the Middle East, the Western Balkans, the Philippines as well as Cambodia. These programs, amongst others, include the education about the origins and consequences of violent conflict, the facilitation of dialogue between conflicting parties as well as the strengthening of civil society initiatives. In addition, communal conflict counselling projects are initiated within Germany to contribute to civil conflict management. forumZFD believes that conflict-sensitive project work can only be successful if those involved possess wellgrounded skills and knowledge. To address this need, forumZFD’s Academy for Conflict Transformation in Cologne (Germany) offers qualification courses and trainings for practitioners from all over the world. forumZFD started its engagement in Cambodia in 2015. It runs projects from its program office in Phnom Penh, as well as from its regional office in Battambang City. In cooperation with different local and national partners and stakeholders, forumZFD is committed to non-violently transforming conflicts that stem from the past in order to increase and strengthen social peace in Cambodia. Being itself an NGO, forumZFD naturally works with civil society organizations and networks, as well as with government and academic institutions like the Royal University of Phnom Penh and Buddhist University of Battambang. forumZFD promotes a dialogue of “Dealing with the Past” (DwP) inclusive of religious and ethnic minorities. forumZFD builds capacities of NGOs, local communities and academic institutions by providing assistance as well as trainings in methods and concepts of civil conflict resolution. forumZFD supports peace education by promoting the skills, knowledge, values and attitudes to strengthen a culture of peace. forumZFD builds structures of cooperation and dialogue across lines of conflict by strengthening methods of conflict resolution.
