Common Creation 01 DIV I DED – FROZEN (02:50) (Filip Helštýn, Jana Blahutová) From the album "Born To Sleep" (2014, DIV I DED SOUND) * Czeching nomination DIV I DED was established in the end of 2013 by Filip Helštýn and a year later they released their debut album „Born To Sleep“ that made them a pearl of Czech the shoegaze and dream pop scene. „Born To Sleep“ acclaimed widelly positive reactions from both the industry and the public, and brought the band the Vinyla Music Awards nomination in category “Discovery of the year”. The concept of DIV I DED shoegaze imbibes elements of melancholic pop or lo-fi folk — they definitely don‘t copy former heroes of indie scene. They are about to release their new LP ‚‘Waiting‘‘ by the end of 2015. https://2divided.bandcamp.com https://www.youtube.com/user/dividedcz 02 BORIS CARLOFF – DAYS GO BY (03:58) (Boris Carloff) From the album "Morphosis" (2014, Championship music) Boris started off as a classical violinist, he played as a musician in Norway, UK, Germany and Italy. We used to just play clarinet and make arrangements, but now we’re more into improvisation, composing, playing other instruments and singing. We want to be a group that has something to say and not just a music museum!” says Jindřich Pavliš, the quartet’s leader. In the last two decades, the quartet travelled accross Europe and collaborated with numerous producers. Their discography consists of five CF collaborations and, in 2013 on their 20th anniversary, Supraphon released their double-record, Works & Reworks, containing a number of unique remixes from the workshops of respected producers such as bvdub, Sylvain Chauveau, Hidden Orchestra, Floex, Marsen Jules, aus and Christopher Willits. There are two of them and their project exists for about four years now, but in that short time, they have accomplished quite a lot. Fragile author songs, which are so convincingly written by DKP and Marie Kieslowski, have the strength of an undertow. Quietly, without hearing any noise, you are hit and before you know it, there is no turning back. Lush melodic songs, thanks to characteristic vocals, hold the listener tight and offer the whole life – love and death. https://www.facebook.com/kieslowski https://soundcloud.com/kieslowski22 https://www.youtube.com/user/bpnoise 05 FIORDMOSS – Maud (03:45) (Petra Hermanová, Roman Přikryl, Jan Boroš) From the EP "Ink Bitten" (2012, Self-Released) * Czeching nomination Fiordmoss are sentimentalists. The band started after a fire in their apartment, mirrors their obsession with stories of tragic beauty. Stirring vocals and guitars are joined by sounds of techno and grime, which the four-piece perform live standing in the white light of a projector. The founding members Petra Hermanová and Roman Přikryl met as art students. Jan Boroš joined Fiordmoss three years later to support the band‘s first EP Gliese on tour. As a trio, Fiordmoss released their second EP Ink Bitten in 2012 and were awarded Newcomer of the Year at the Vinyla Awards. Petra was selected for Red Bull Music Academy in Madrid where she met another participant, Jon-Eirik Boska. He joined the band as a drummer and producer. Fiordmoss have played more than a hundred concerts in Europe and are currently finishing their debut full-length album in their new place of residence, Berlin. http://fiordmoss.com/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WWfdVLGnezg&index=3&list=RDUimvdT6-nNc 06 VR/NOBODY – Body (04:24) (Václav Rouček, Jakub Strach) From EP "Now" (2015, Český Rozhlas) * Czeching nomination VR/Nobody released their debut album ‚Yet‘ this year - an impressive record with a fresh and unconventional sound. Singer Václav Rouček‘s raw vocals form a unique contrast with producer Jakub Strach‘s minimalist sound. This is the first project these two Czech musicians have created together, but they manage to make a daring, mature sound with electronic beats, poetic piano sounds, melodious vocals and grand choruses. www.vrnobody.com https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3D4OEjuT2VM 07 FLOEX – Gone (04:28) (Tomáš Dvořák, Andrea Stuart) From the EP "Gone" (2013, Denovali Records, DEN174) Tomáš Dvořák aka Floex - clarinetist, composer, producer and multimedia artist from Prague (Czech Republic). Slightly sardonic, yet oozing with emotion. Slowmotiondancer is Dominik Gajarský, a Prague-based artist and producer. His alternative R&B sound is rather unique – it may perhaps be described as a weird mix between Nicholas Krgovich and Daughn Gibson, with some Xiu Xiu tossed in. Apart from his solo project, Gajarský, a student of Prague’s Academy of Fine Arts. His debut album (Life is Fine) that was released on Bandcamp shows that in the world of Slowmotiondancer there are two sides to everything, both joy and grief. https://slowmotiondancer.bandcamp.com/album/life-is-fine https://soundcloud.com/slowmotiondancer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QbWAT2FpRC8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MT__xc6uGdw 09 NEVER SOL – Places (04:03) (Sára Vondrášková, Jan P. Muchow) From the album "Under Quiet" (SU 6225-2) ( 2013 SUPRAPHON a.s. * Czeching nomination Never Sol is the pseudonym of the singer, keyboard player and composer Sára Vondrášková. Shortly after emerging in 2012, talent scouts from two renowned labels bumped into each other backstage at their concert in Palác Akropolis, each of them with contract in hand. This non-traditional project, with their unusual harmonies, unique songscapes and visuals are sure to have a great future. The piano has always been central in her music writing, but in the past years she was more and more gaining knowledge in using music production software. Creating sounds turned out to be another starting point to evolve her music and to get rid of the patterns and techniques taught in her classical education. The groups’s main protagonist, Sára, is also an occasional model and sings at gigs with Czech Republic prime contemporary- electronic producer‘s Floex‘s line-up. Her first album „Under Quiet“ was released by SUPRAPHON a.s. in 2013. http://neversol.cz/music https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sy68XCWxEu8 10 AWALI – Giselle (03:59) (Aircher Clark & Tamara Shmidt) From the album "Between Significant" (2015, Self-Released) * Czeching nomination Awali is a Czech-Ukrainian musical project of Tamara Shmidt. First two albums where produced in cooperation with DJ Aitcher Clark. It is a mixture of soft vocals, piano sound with experimental electronic and modern classical music. Awali’s tracks have incorporated Tamara’s voice and her way of playing piano and Aitcher’s passion for discovering the beauty of music through all kinds of styles. Together with their devotion to the modern classics and electronic music it creates particular music signature. https://awali.bandcamp.com/ https://youtu.be/PMsJTNUhNN0 (Giselle) 11 LUNO – Pekorino (04:01) (Ema Brabcová) From the album "Close To Silence" (2015, Indies Scope) LUNO is the project of singer Ema Brabcová known from the internationally recognised and europewide touring electro-pop-triphop band Khoiba. One thing’s for sure. Sunflower Caravan present something you can hardly ever experience with other bands. You want some fierce key-driven pop? Good. Want to hear some good old heavy rock’n‘roll, wanna see vintage hundred-kilos heavy vintage hammond organ yelling through guitar distortion pedals? Even better. After performing on big stages for more than 3 years, Sunflower Caravan are one of the most recognizable and original acts within the Czech music scene. This trio comprising brothers Vit on drums and Andy on keys and vocals completed by Michell’s bass fits together perfectly being in company since their adult years. The boys apparently got excellent instrumental abilities paired with clear visions regarding style and arrangements. The basic factor of their style is undisputably a strong song, a well-built composition, with certain originality given by the sound of classic hammond organ distorted by a set of guitar effects that would fit Jimi Hendrix pretty well. www.facebook.com/sunflowercaravan https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ox5QYDOr_ng https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0NaE2RWhtUc 02 PLEASE THE TREES – Missing Feeling Nothing (04:59) (Václav Havelka, Jan Svačina, Miroslav Syrný) From the album "Carp" (2015, Starcastic Records) Please The Trees have got more mojo than they know what to do with — it pours out like molten lava, wave upon wave of hot noise and a body groove from the pits of Hell. Their live reputation precedes them, and what a reputation it is: an all-enveloping, intense and soulful sound that puts pretenders in their place. Please The Trees have been following intuitively the trail of inspiration for over eight years now. The band received Czech Grammy award for the best alternative record of 2012 with their third record A Forest Affair produced by Jonathan Burnside in California. Past tours of hundreds of shows included Europe, UK, USA and Israel. In the Summer of 2015 PTT open for Robert Plant And The Sensational Space Shifters and tour Europe as opening act with Two Gallants. Fourth studio record called Carp came out in September. The album was recorded with Chris Koltay at High Bias Recordings, Detroit. Yet before the physical release the album gets ravishing reviews. The band plants trees in every city where they perform. Each tree planting is photographed and documented, then posted on Facebook profile of the project. Or just do it and get it over with! Carefully crafted rock’n’roll songs with catchy vocal hooks and guitar riffs, pulsating drums, and machine-tight bass, all mixed up in a brilliant cocktail of powerful hit songs, but still with that sexy dirty feeling, combining elements of glam rock, grunge, 60s garage and blues with the best aspects of power pop. http://thedrain.bandcamp.com https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFpHhtSBuyM 04 GHOST OF YOU – Hermaphrodite (03:03) (Michal Janík, Tomáš Novohradský, Štěpán Pařízek, Jiří Habarta) From the album "Glacier and the City" (2015, Indies Scope) Ghost of You started as an experimental project of a few young musicians the summer of 2012. The gentle vocals and melancholic melodies gradually evolved into a sort of of psychedelic power pop. Since finding their unique sound the band intensivelly tours across the Czech Republic. They‘ve published an EP in 2013, and a debut LP (Glacier an d the City) was released in October 2015. Thanks to their average age of 21, they became the youngest Czech project to perform at the Sziget festival. http://ghostofyou.cz/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ci6cRWJVNL4 05 WILD TIDES – Hung Loose (02:23) (Jakub Kaifos) From the EP "Sever Fashion" (2015, Self-Released) * Czeching nomination Hailing from Prague’s favorite seedy neighborhood of Žižkov, Wild Tides are already notoriously famous for their over the top live performances and short spazzed out rock ‘n’ roll flavored punk anthems. Surfing through rock history from as early as 50s reverb drenched guitars and Bo Diddley beats, 70s glam, 80s post-punk, 90s post-hardcore, complete with the unmistakable “We don’t give a fuck” Ramones attitude and a vocalist coming off as a drunk Elvis impersonator singing David Bowie in the shower. It‘s simply country music, just the way your mother might also like it. http://wildtides.bandcamp.com/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dPvS-BtEoM0 06 PETER PAN COMPLEX – Simplicity (04:01) (music: Peter Pan Complex, lyric: Jordan Haj and Givinar Kříž) From the album ‚‘Peter Pan Complex‘‘ (2015, Warner Music Czech Repulic) This ambitious five-piece from Prague combines contemporary Israelifolk influences with guitar driven soundscapes inspired by the British rock scene. Thanks to a crowdfunding campaign on HitHit.cz the band started to record their first full length album the spring of 2014. Waves of pure guitar energy, interweaved with echoes of contemporary Israeli folk, all driven by the unrelenting force of the precise beat. Since “Unholy” the band has finally settled on an authentic sound and confidently draws the best from the alternative as well as from the guitar mainstream. The eponymous debut album Peter Pan Complex was released in May 2015 under the Warner Music label. www.facebook.com/peterpancpx https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=suxARVr51cI 07 LESNÍ ZVĚŘ – Kavka Airlines (02:56) (Jiří Hradil, Miloš Rejsek) From the album "Movable Feasts" (2014, Indies Scope) Lesní zvěř - an original mix of jazz, drum´n´bass and psychedelia with English Lyrics. „We do not perceive nu-jazz as a music necessarily connected with jazz in the historical sense of the word. It is more of a common ground, a starting point full of freedom and spontaneity, that is not limited by any definition of it as genre, and lets us wildely exploit our imagination.“ Performances at Eurojazz 2011 and 2014 (Mexico), Brussel Jazz Marathon 2012 (Belgium), Lotos Jazz festival 2010 (Poland), Kaunas Jazz festival 2010 (Lithuania), Jazzire 2010 (Serbia). They hail from a small town called Rakovník that discretly nestles amongst remote hills stretching west of Prague, and, if you turn your imagination up to eleven, their music could almost be the soundtrack to the atmospheric train journey from deepest, mistiest rural Bohemia into the bright lights and deafening noise of the Czech capital. https://manonmeurt.bandcamp.com/ https://www.facebook.com/manonmeurt/ foto: Libor Galia https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cC0qgLuTbaw 09 GINNY ANDRO SYNDROME – Reptile Dance (04:54) (Ginny Andro) (2015, Self-Released) Ginny Andro Syndrome were found in early 2014 as a 6-piece combo with all members contributing to songwriting and overall production. GAS came up with a material influenced by a wide range of music ranging from 60s psychedelic rock, 70 s hard rock, 80s dark wave to 90s pop music. The essence of GAS is they don’t give a damn whether something is too cheesy or too hard to swallow if they still enjoy themselves. The inherent part of GAS’s live performance is an eccentric theatrical presence of their lead vocalist Ginny Andro. https://www.facebook.com/ginnyandrosyndrome https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgIKFhNPW0cj-iJBDaZ2Mvw 10 LAKE MALAWI – We Are Making Love Again (02:58) (Albert Černý) From the EP "We Are Making Love Again" (2015, Self-Released) Lake Malawi are an indie-pop four-piece band formed in 2013. At the time that Nauzea Orchestra arose there was a tendency to create an allusion to Berlin Geniale Dilletanten and decadent electroclash. Nauzea Orchestra drews inspiration from the postpunk and noise rock over the years, which is obvious from the third record „Dobro“ in the line. https://nauzea-orchestra.bandcamp.com/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bU4sSulxHdE 12 THE FINALLY – Man With a God‘s Face (Jirka Giesl, Tereza Veselková, Vendula Pukyšová, Martin Šťastný) (04:30) (2014, Self-Released) The Finally is a band that could be compared to a girl....just the kind of girl whose slither of a profile you catch a glimpse of out of the corner of your eye and before you can think, before you can stop the elevator and change the course of your life, she has turned and dashed away. The Finally are standing on the corner between The Jesus and Mary Chain and The Raveonettes, oozing shoegazer cool. They switch and combine their male and female voices to a sound filled with dense, minimalistic bass, clearcut drums and sensual, chiming guitars. https://thefinally.bandcamp.com/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WyLpPgX_T6s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTk1u7TyIxI 13 LAMBDA – Space Express (04:29) (Lambda) From the EP "Space Express" (2015, Self-Released) Lambda is a four piece instrumental stoner/post rock band from South Bohemian forests and meadows. Their sound combines oldschool Black Sabbathish riffs with 90‘s californian stoner rock with a little bit of post rock and psychedelic vibes. All together presented with a lots of energy on stage. https://lambdaband.bandcamp.com/album/space-express 14 HENTAI CORPORATION – Lost in Tensions (03:30) (Petr Škarohlíd) From the album "The Spectre of Corporatism" (2013, Self-Released) „Hentai Corporation are what Led Zeppelin would have sounded like if they’d formed after drum’n‘bass had been invented – and grown-up listening to traditional Czech music and Napalm Death. Prog rock done Prague style“. Invitation to a London show by Noise of Art Hentai Corporation is a Czech thrash-rock’n‘roll band that stands out thanks to vigorous live performances, imaginative instrumental lines and great vocals of their eccentric frontman, Radek Škarohlíd. Since they were found ( 2005) Hentai Corporation played in almost all of the significant Czech venues and festivals, played as support band of Devin Townsend and Fear Factory ,Slash, and gave numerous international concerts. https://www.facebook.com/hentaicorp https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aC3aV7bJbr4 15 BOY WONDER & THE TEEN SENSATIONS – Piss & Vinegar (03:32) (Jakub Kaifosz) From the album "Radikal Karaoke" (2015, Full Moon Magazine) Boy Wonder & The Teen Sensations is a salute to the sloppiness of rock ‚n‘ roll, the glitz of glam and the absolute cheesiness of contemporary punk that still takes itself seriously. With Oakland‘s queer garage and young oldies scene as a cornerstone and lyrics worshiping the mediocrity of man in its greatest filth, Boy Wonder & The Teen Sensations celebrate naps, pizza, 80s horror, forbidden love and wrestling while already gaining cult status for their karaoke infused pants off dance offs. https://boywonderandtheteensensations.bandcamp.com/ https://vimeo.com/129802181 01 SKYLINE – Fairytale Teller (03:35) (Skyline) From the album "Fairytapes" (2013, Championship Music) One of wildest electronic band from Czech Republic formed around 1997 in Prague. Their style was originally defined as a connection of drum‘n‘bass/breakbeat and pop but today Skyline call it urban pop… Skyline were and always will be mainly a live band: playing live is the most important part of this band. Anyway, it is not a co-incidence that they were awarded with couple of prizes for the best live act. Skyline play regularly at most of the important Czech festivals, supported the legendary Underworld, toured accross Europe and the USA, played Sziget Festival 2011 and also prestigious Eurosonic Festival 2006, which is a presentation of the most promising new acts from Europe. Their latest album Fairytapes topped the digital charts in Czech Republic for three weeks and also gained positive reviews from the music press: „The most entertaining record in their discography! Skyline feel tight and united like never before.“ (MF Dnes) www.skylineweb.cz youtube.com/skylinetv 02 MYDY RABYCAD – Don’t Play This Song (03:58) (Mikuláš Pejcha, Nèro Scartch, Jan Drábek, Žofie Dařbujánová From the album "Glamtronic" (2015, Self-Released) Energy, charm, hapinness and sex-appeal. Lightness of syncopes combined with uncompromising beats. Insight and spontaneity, but also refined sophistication and professionalism. All this and much more certainly helped the young band Mydy Rabycad to get better over the last year and a half and become one of the best concert bands on the Czech scene and attract fans, agents and promoters, not only in Europe. Mydy Rabycad capitalized this impressive balance of lastyear in the studio - they released their second album called Glamtronic. Pun in the title suggests that the band does not want to fit in the style description classics. They added sharp EBM beats to swinging jazz moments, without pushing the imaginative melodies into the background and especially constant playfulness and desire to entertain themselves and the audience with music. Frontwoman of the band, singer and songwriter Žofie Dařbujánová explains: „Electroswing is in our roots, but we crossed its mantinels. Now it is not possible to put us into a category, so we made up the word Glamtronic as a expression for our own style and then we decided to name the whole album after it..” www.mydyrabycad.cz https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pumTtsELBzQ 03 VLOŽTE KOČKU – FurikoFurikoFurikoBolt (03:06) (Cyril Kaplan, Kryštof Kaplan, Jiří Konvalinka, Tomáš Kubín) From the album "SEAT" (2013, Self-Released) * Czeching nomination Vložte kočku (translated as Feed me a cat, VK for short) is a four-piece band from Prague, Czech Republic. (2014, Self-Released) * Czeching nomination Cyril and Kryštof Kaplan didn’t have to think twice about the name for their band. They form half of the Czech experimental sensation, Vložte kočku , but their independent project pushes musical limits even further. Their mostly instrumental compositions stem from the fusion of digital and analogue electronica accompanied by live drums. The post-rock duo’s debut album released in collaboration with Full Moon magazine. https://kaplanbros.bandcamp.com/releases https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9gaVObt38Ws 06 AID KID – Broken Arp (05:40) (Onřej Mikula) From the album "Aid Kid" (2015, Self-Released) * Czeching nomination Ondra Mikula, known under the moniker Aid Kid, is a 22-year-old musician, producer and multimedia artist.
