Dear Families of EBDC,
I am truly thrilled your dancer has decided to participate in our 9th Annual Spring Recital! We work hard in class
all year long to improve our technique, flexibility and performance ability and are excited to show you how much
progress each and every dancer has made. Classes will not resume after the Recital on Sunday, June
4th. Dancers will automatically be withdrawn from all classes after the Recitals. Sign-ups for
Fall classes will begin in May. Invite all your family and friends to come and see our fabulous show!

Our Recital will be held at:
Dougherty Valley Performing Arts Center
10550 Albion Rd, San Ramon 94582
(Cross Street Bollinger Canyon Rd)
Located on the Dougherty Valley High School Campus
*Parents are not allowed backstage or in Dressing rooms- Chaperones will be provided
Coming from 680: take the Bollinger Canyon exit and proceed east for 4 miles. The
auditorium will be on your left side. Coming from 580: take the Hopyard/ Dougherty exit
towards Dublin. Stay straight for 6 miles and Dougherty becomes Bollinger. The
Auditorium will be on your right. The Dougherty Valley Performing Arts Center is a 560
seat indoor venue that is air conditioned. The dancers will perform on the large stage and
will be held backstage in the “Dance Studio” room. Parents please drop-off before show and
pick-up dancers from this room after the show is completed, which is located behind to the
theater.
Recitals: We will have four Recitals throughout the day; each show will be different and only certain dances will repeat.
Show # 1 will be at 10am; Show # 2 will be at 1pm; Show # 3 will be at 3:30pm; and Show # 4 will being at 6pm *Some
dance routines will be repeated so please pay attention to each Show’s line up.
Tickets: Tickets will go on sale Friday May 5th Seating is assigned. Tickets may only be purchased through the Box
Office at 925-973- 3343. Box office hours are Tuesday-Friday 12PM-5PM and 1 hour before show time. Purchase tickets
online 24hrs/7days a week via http://www.sanramon.ca.gov/parks/theater/ .There is a $3.00 per transaction fee for each
online sale. **EBDC does not have the rights to sell tickets; tickets may only be purchased either online or by telephone
through the city of San Ramon.
Performers will NOT need to purchase tickets are they will be kept backstage the entire time of their Recital.

*The city of San Ramon adds an additional $1.00 per ticket that goes towards the San Ramon’s Culture Growth Fund.
Dress Rehearsal: Dress rehearsal will be held Tuesday, May 30th at Dougherty Valley Performing Arts Center. Please
enter through the lobby to enter theater, DO NOT enter through backstage doors! Please be on time and ready to go as we
have a very long day ahead of us! Dancers: please come in full make-up and hair. Once a dancer’s number has finished,
he/she will be escorted back to his/her assigned seat. After dancer’s rehearsal is over, he/she is free to leave. Please send
only ONE parent to dress rehearsal due to the limited amount of space we will have. No siblings, extra family members,
friends etc. allowed at Dress Rehearsal. Dancers will have a designated section for sitting; parents please drop off your
dancer to his/her assigned row. Parents will have their own section of the theater designated for sitting. Your children will
be rehearsing their routine(s) during dress rehearsal. Parents are welcome to stay during the rehearsal and sit quietly in the
audience. Please remember there is no flash photography or video recording of any kind allowed.
Running and talking loudly during the dress rehearsal is prohibited, and you may be asked to leave the theater during the
rehearsal time. Food and drink (other than water) are prohibited in the theater. Please be on time for the rehearsal
and allow extra time if you haven’t been to this auditorium before. If you arrive early for the scheduled rehearsal time,
please wait in the lobby until your dancer’s rehearsal slot begins. Dress rehearsal should be just like the Recital! The
rehearsal is very important as the atmosphere in the theater is very different than the dance studio. This rehearsal will give
your child more confidence for show time!
Performance Day: Our Recital is scheduled for Sunday, June 4th, 2017. There will be a show at 10am, 1pm, 3:30pm and
6pm. “Call time” for all performers will be 30 minutes prior to their scheduled show. Dancers will be dropped off in
the “Dance Studio” room located behind the theater (signs will be posted directing dancers backstage) where they will be
left with a chaperone. If you would like to sign up to be a chaperone, please let the office know. Please note chaperones
will not be allowed to see their dancer perform on stage; they will watch on a monitor located in the dressing room.
After dancers have taken their final bow at the end of their show, please give the teachers and chaperones a few minutes to
escort all of the performers back to their dressing room where parents may then pick them up. Please only send 1 parent to
pick up your dancer as it gets very cramped backstage!
*Please be aware that students may not view the Recital they’re performing in; they will be kept backstage at all times!
Video: Videotaping is not allowed in the Dougherty Valley Performing Arts Center! Violators may be subject to fines.
This includes all dress rehearsals! There will be a professional company filming and DVDs will be available for
purchase. *Please NO flash photography.
Hair Requirements: Dancer’s hair must be parted on dancer’s left side and pulled into a low pony tail. Bangs and “fly
away” strands of hair must be slicked back with gel and hairspray. Please use a hair band close to dancer’s hair color. All
Pre-Dance classes will wear their hair half up/half down and all ballet classes will wear buns. Ballet dancer’s hair must be
parted down dancers’ left side and put into a secure low bun with plenty of bobby pins, hairspray and a hair net (in a
similar color to dancer’s hair).
Make-Up Requirements: All dancers must wear a bright red lipstick (no pinks), dark pink blush and black eyeliner.
Keep in mind that the stage lights are very bright and have a habit of “washing out” all color in the skin. These are just the
minimal requirements. Please feel free to wear more make-up if you choose.
Mandatory Picture Day Friday, May 12, 2017 @ EBDC: Dance photos are a great way to keep memories of your tiny
dancers as they grow. A professional photographer from Memory Makers Images will be taking individual and group
photos of every routine as well as every dancer in the routine. Each dance will have a specific time slot where a photo will
be taken; this should take no more than 10 minutes. * Dancers will be allowed to wear their hair in any style for picture
(please include all accessories such as headbands, hair clips or hats). After your dancer has completed all of his/her
pictures for the day, he/she will be free to go. Photos will be delivered to EBDC a few weeks following Picture Day.
*Although it is not mandatory to purchase the photos, it is mandatory for all dancers in their routine to attend their
photo shoot.

Need Help Practicing Your
Dances at Home?
Parents are welcomed into class to film their dancer along alongside their
instructor practicing their Recital routine. All routines will be completed
and ready to film the week of May 1st-6th. We invite parents to come into
the last 5 minutes of class this week and film their dancer.
*Parents must provide own recording device; all choreography is
property of EBDC and may not be sold, duplicated or put on the internet;
purpose of video footage is for dancers to refine routines at home.
East Bay Dance Company Performance Team’s
BOX LUNCH FUNDRAISER
The East Bay Dance Company Performance Team is on it’s way to Nationals in Long Beach,
California in June! Proceeds from this fundraiser will help with travel and hotel costs. Thank you
so much for supporting these GREAT kids in another GREAT dance season!

Lunches will be available for pick up at 11:30am on recital day on
June 4, 2017 at a table NEAR the dressing room.
