Our teaching diplomas are recognised by education authorities across the world. Through these qualifications, music education professionals can demonstrate their expertise in a variety of different situations. SoundEd CPD, our unique professional development programme, supports our work with professional musicians in education all around the world. In 2013 we are adding the Level 4 Certificate for Music Educators (CME) to our portfolio of professional qualifications. This new certificate will be relevant to all musicians in education, regardless of musical genre and where they are in their careers. SoundEd CPD SoundEd CPD is a professional development programme for music teachers worldwide, developed by Trinity College London and The Open University and delivered through Trinity’s virtual learning environment. SoundEd CPD enables teachers to put together a flexible, personalised development programme that supports and inspires their teaching. It offers interactive e-learning and integrated workshop sessions, a wide range of resources, forums, articles and much more. Through SoundEd CPD, teachers can: ◗◗ engage in professional development by completing online modules ◗◗ access and download teaching resources from the teaching library ◗◗ access syllabus support and guidance, including interactive syllabus guides ◗◗ discuss and share ideas with other teachers and Trinity ◗◗ download articles written by people from across the music sector. www.SoundEdCPD.org Teaching diplomas ATCL Principles of Instrumental/ Vocal Teaching A qualification for new or aspiring teachers of individual or small-group instrumental or vocal lessons, the exam requires submitted evidence of observation of teaching and some teaching experience, typically in a support role. LTCL Instrumental/Vocal Teaching A qualification for teachers of individual or small-group instrumental or vocal lessons, the exam requires submitted evidence of teaching experience and case studies in addition to a practical demonstration of teaching capabilities. LTCL Music Practice: Teaching A qualification for teachers of larger groups of students working vocally and/or instrumentally across a wide spread of levels of student abilities. FTCL Music Education A dissertation-based diploma requiring original research in a chosen field within music education. Diploma levels European Qualifications Framework (EQF) Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) Credit and Qualifications Framework for Wales (CQFW) Scottish Credit The National and Qualifications Framework of Framework (SCQF) Qualifications for Ireland (NFQ IE) ATCL 5 4 5/4 8/7 6 LTCL 6 6 6 10/9 8/7 FTCL 7 7 7 11 9 Level 4 Certificate for Music Educators (CME) In 2013 a new qualification is being introduced — the Level 4 Certificate for Music Educators (CME). The CME is being developed by Arts Council England working with Creative and Cultural Skills and the music education sector, and is designed to support inspiring and motivational learning. It will be relevant to all musicians in education, regardless of musical genre and where they are in their careers. Trinity College London is one of only two exam boards awarding this exciting new qualification. How the CME works The CME is a vocational, flexible and unitised qualification. It will include a range of units that support skills development in areas specific to musicians, such as: ◗◗ one-to-one tuition, small-group teaching and whole-class/ ensemble teaching ◗◗ developing a range of pedagogical approaches ◗◗ planning for musical learning ◗◗ improvising and composing ◗◗ technology in music ◗◗ safe practice ◗◗ diversity and differentiation.
