Level 4 Certificate for Music Educators (CME)
In 2013 a new qualification is being introduced — the Level 4
Certificate for Music Educators (CME).
The CME is being developed by Arts Council England
working with Creative and Cultural Skills and the music
education sector, and is designed to support inspiring and

Trinity College London is one of only two exam boards
awarding this exciting new qualification.
How the CME works

It will include a range of units that support skills
development in areas specific to musicians, such as:
◗◗ one-to-one tuition, small-group teaching and whole-class/
ensemble teaching
◗◗ developing a range of pedagogical approaches
◗◗ planning for musical learning
◗◗ improvising and composing
◗◗ technology in music
◗◗ safe practice
