Experience the stunning kelp beds full of marine life
including bottlenose dolphins, sea lions, leopard sharks,
and bat rays, all while paddling through the Catalina
Channel’s famous underwater reserve. Certified guided
tours are done in stable sit-on-top tandem kayaks and
include all necessary equipment.

STAN D UP PA DDLE BOAR DING
A paddle boarding trip along the Palos Verdes coast is a
must do if you are in the Los Angeles area. The amazing
kelp beds (an endless eco-system often referred to as
an underwater rain forest) change the ocean landscape
and set the tone for an ideal experience.
Activity Notes: We suggest wearing comfortable swim
suits/trunks. This is a moderately physical activity
and you must be a proficient swimmer. Participants
must be 10 years or older.

Guests will experience the exhilaration of riding a wave with professional
surf lessons provided year round in Redondo Beach. One of the best ways to
soak up the sun and enjoy the California experience is to explore this

TIDE POOLING
Explore our naturalists’ favorite coastline treasure: the tidepools. After a steep,
yet quick hike, the adventure continues in the tide pools as we take a close-up
look at the water’s edge.

This is a moderately physical activity. Trips are dependent on the low tide
which changes daily. Participants must be 3 years or older.

PAINTING BY THE SEA
Throughout the halls of the resort, guests of Terranea are surrounded by a uniquely
Californian style of Plein Air painting. The French translation is “in the open air”;
the perfect setting to paint. With helpful tips provided by the artist and using your
own creative expression, you will be able to create your own original and beautiful
work of art. This is a beginner level class, everyone is welcome!

Terranea Resort is committed to an educational
campaign that focuses the attention of our guests
on environmental issues. This guided hike stops at a
variety of nature viewing points. As you walk amongst
the coastal sage, guests may spot a California Gnat
Catcher or an Allen’s Hummingbird, which are native
to Southern California.
Activity Notes: We suggest wearing comfortable

Terranea introduced its falconry program in May 2009. Since then, these
majestic birds have become a popular and unique attraction at the resort.
While participating in this special program, guests can learn about the
general characteristics of the birds of prey and view a flight demonstration
alongside our expert falconers.
In addition to the spectacular sport of falconry, the raptors also provide
an important service on Terranea’s coastline property. The falcons were
introduced to Terranea in an eco-friendly, non-lethal attempt to rid the
resort of a large, indigenous seagull population. In a truly unique display
of both power and control, the team of Jeer and Peregrine Falcons, Harris
Hawks, and Eurasian Eagle Owls has established ownership throughout the
property without need for attack. With the success of the Aerial Solutions
team and their expertly trained raptors, the birds ensure a clean and
healthy environment and continue to keep the resort and restaurants seagull free.

falconers will enlighten you with the general identification of these birds

HORSEBACK RIDING
Enjoy a 5-6 mile ocean front route in Long Beach along the strand on a
PT Cruiser Segway! This guided tour is easy for young adults to seniors
in good physical condition. If you can stand and walk, you can ride a
Segway within seconds.

BIKE L.A. IN A DAY
HOLLYWOOD HILLS DAYTIME HIKE
Begin on Route 66 in West Hollywood and bike through Beverly Hills &
Bel-Air to see movie star’s homes. Then you’re off to L.A.’s world famous
beach towns: Santa Monica, Venice & Marina del Rey. Afterwards, you’ll
pedal through Culver City to see some of the historic movie studios that
put the City of Angels on the map. This excursion is “bucket list” worthy
and leaves no site unseen. With several breaks, including lunch on the
beach and a walking tour along the way, there’s time to rest and truly
enjoy the very best of Los Angeles.

code, 9-0-2-1-0. Then you’re off! You decide when to start and how long
to spend in the glamorous neighborhoods of LA’s most rich and famous.
Our routes are designed to take you through quiet, residential, bike
friendly streets. Pedal past celebrity homes, enjoy lunch on Rodeo Drive
and take a nap in the gardens of one of Beverly Hills most glamorous
mansions. It’s all up to you!

to the Original Farmers Market, bike through the Hollywood Forever
Cemetery, CBS Studios, the Walk of Fame, Grauman’s Chinese Theater, and
the Dolby Theater (home to the Oscars).
