White House Water Summit Commitment – 3/22/2016

White House Water Summit Commitment – 3/22/2016
The Interstate Council on Water Policy (ICWP) is announcing that over the next 24 months, it will
engage over 100 partners—including State water-management agencies, interstate basin
commissions, and NGOs—in (1) communicating the importance of water data and science in
informing water resources policy and planning; and (2) identifying and promoting opportunities to
enhance State and regional water-resource planning efforts. As part of this effort, ICWP will
convene at least two national stakeholder workshops focused on water-data collection and water
use, and at least two workshops highlighting successful practices from State and interstate waterplan development.

About ICWP
ICWP is the national water policy organization of state, interstate, regional, and other water
resource management professionals. In the ICWP, members develop unified positions on national
policy issues and promote them to policy makers in Washington. ICWP carries out its mission to
enhance the stewardship of the nation’s water resources through:
 serving as the national policy voice for the state and interstate water resource managers;
 providing a national forum for the evaluation of policy issues and the development of
solutions to water resource challenges;
 providing leadership in the promotion and implementation of national policies supporting
integrated water resource planning and management; and,
 providing opportunities for members to engage federal agency and Congressional leaders in
shaping national water policy.
ICWP’s strategic plan guides our organizational water policy development through research,
communication and collaboration, and focuses our effort in three areas: 1) National Water Policy
Development; 2) Integrated Planning for Sustainable Management; and 3) Water Data and Science
to Inform Policy and Planning. For more information you can visit our website at www.icwp.org, or
