1.0 Overview
The Implicit FrontEnd for Office 365 add-in provides an Outlook integration solution between Office 365
and SugarCRM. It allows SugarCRM users to open an email and instantly view CRM information about
the contact it was received from, its account and all other CRM records related to the contact and the
account such as opportunities, cases, meetings tasks etc.
Features further include the ability to:

Open any of the CRM records right from within the add-in pane, edit the information and save it
back to SugarCRM

Create new SugarCRM records and automatically associate them with the contact and the
account.

Archive an email including its attachments to any of the related records on SugarCRM.

Annotate an email and save the annotations as a note in SugarCRM
2.0 Supported Platforms
Implicit FrontEnd for Office 365 is primarily targeting the following platforms:




Outlook 2016 for Mac
Outlook Web App on Windows
Outlook Web App users on Mac
Outlook Web App users on iPad and Android tablets
For the desktop editions of Outlook on Windows platforms, Implicit offers another version called
“Implicit FrontEnd for Outlook” which provides rich SugarCRM integration for all Outlook desktop
edition (2007, 2010, 2013 & 2016).
SugarCRM – The commercial edition of SugarCRM is required - version 7.x which supports REST web
services. SugarCE (SugarCRM community edition) is not currently supported.

3.0 Installation
3.1 Single User Installation
To install the add-in follow these steps:
1. Launch a Web browser and login to your Office 365 account.
2. Click on Outlook (Mail) application.
3. Click the Office 365 settings at the upper right corner and select “Manage Add-ins”

4. Outlook will display a list of available add-ins. Click on “Add a Custom Add-In”

5. Outlook will display a list of add-ins installed in your Office 365 account:

6. To install Implicit FrontEnd, click the ‘+’ button and select ‘Add from a URL:

7. Enter the following URL: https://implicitfrontend.com/o365addin/ImplicitFrontEndManifest.xml

8. You should now see Implicit FrontEnd add-in in the list of active add-ins. Make sure the box to the
right of the name is checked.

9. You can now return to Outlook Mail app - Click the Apps button at the upper left corner and select
the Mail application

3.2 Enterprise Installation
To install the add-in for all users within a company, you must be the admin for the Office 365 account.
1. Click the ‘Admin’ app to go to the Office 365 admin center dashboard

2. Click Exchange
3. Click the Add-Ins link under the Organization group

4. Office 365 will display the list of installed add-ins.

5. To continue with the installation, please follow the steps described above in Section 3.1 starting
with step 3.

4.0 Initial Configuration
Once the add-in is installed in your Office 365 account, open an email message and look for Implicit
FrontEnd link in the gray bar at the top of the message (note: you may need to switch once or twice
between different email messages until Outlook refreshes itself and the add-in link shows up). Click the
link and the add-in pane will be open:

Next, you will be prompted to accept the End Use License Agreement:

Next, you will be prompted to enter the Implicit FrontEnd license key. If you don’t have a license key yet,
you may sign up for a 15-days free trial.

Enter SugarCRM user name and password and click Login.
If at any time, you need to re-configure your account or switch license keys, click the ‘Sign Out’ button
on the top right corner of blue header.

5.0 Features and Functionality
5.1 Details Pane
When you receive an email from a SugarCRM contact or lead (known means that the sender’s email
address is defined in SugarCRM), the add-in will display all the information about the contact/lead and
its account. You can also expand the different types of items to view any open opportunities, cases,
meetings and tasks:

5.2 Viewing and Updating SugarCRM Records
To view/update the information of any of the items, click the item and it would open up in the same
pane. For example, click the contact name to open its record for viewing/editing:

You can update the contact’s record and save it back to SugarCRM.
Similarly, you can view/update an opportunity:

5.3 Opening a Record in SugarCRM
To open the item for viewing in SugarCRM, click the name of the item on the blue bar at the top of the
pane.

The add-in will launch a browser, automatically login to SugarCRM and open the item for users to
view/edit it via the browser.
5.4 Viewing all Items of a Certain Type in SugarCRM
In the details pane, the add-in displays up to 5 items of a certain type e.g.: up to 5 opportunities. If you
want to view all opportunities in SugarCRM, simply click on the header with the name of the class of
items i.e. “Opportunities”:

5.5 Creating New CRM Items
To create a new CRM item simply click the ‘+’ plus sign next to the item type. For example, to create a
new opportunity for that account, click the + sign next to opportunities. A blank opportunity form will be
displayed and allow user to fill in the information and save it to SugarCRM.

5.6 Archiving an Email to a CRM Record
To archive the email to the contact’s CRM record, simply click the archive icon (envelop) next to the
contact name. The email and attachments will be archived to SugarCRM and associated with the contact
and the accounts records.

Upon successfully archiving the email to the contact’s record, you’ll notice that the icon changes to
show a persistent check sign that indicates that this email has been archived. This means that you may
leave this message and come back at any time and you would be able to see which records was the
email archived to.

You can also archive the email to any of the opportunities or cases simply by clicking the envelop icon to
the right of the item.

5.7 Advanced Archive
Use the ‘Advanced’ tab to:



Archive an email to multiple records (e.g. multiple contacts or accounts)
Archive an email to records that do not show up in the ‘Details’ pane (if they have not been
recently used)
Archive an email to records that are not directly related to the contact (email sender or
recipient).

5.8 Receiving an Email from Unknown Contact
If you select an email from a sender whose email address is not defined in SugarCRM as a contact or
lead, the add-in will display a message “No Contact or Lead found on SugarCRM” and allow you to create
a new contact:

5.9 Annotating Email
The Implicit FrontEnd add-in allows users to annotate an email, keep the annotation persistently as part
of the email as well as save it as a note in SugarCRM. To annotate an email, click the Note tab on the
FrontEnd pane:

If you want to share your notes with other users or just a keep a rearmament record as a not in
SugarCRM, click Save. It will save it as a note in SugarCRM and associate it with the contact and
account’s records.

6.0 Options
6.1 General Settings
General Settings include the following:



SugarCRM server URL and account credentials. If you change the URL or your credentials, click
‘Verify’ to ensure the settings are correct and that you can connect to the server.
Connected Accounts – If you are using Office 365 ’Connected Accounts’ feature, use this field to
specify a comma delimited list of all email addresses that are linked to your account.
Refresh Modules and Fields – If your CRM administrator has added custom modules or custom
fields after you have configured the add-in, use this button to refresh the list.

6.3 Custom Modules
This configuration tab allows you to configure which modules should appear in the ‘Details Pane’ of the
Email Panel (as described in Section 5.1) and their order of appearance:

You can configure a different set of modules for emails received from CRM contacts and those received
from CRM leads.
