POSITION TITLE: POSITION TYPE: REPORTS TO: COMPENSATION: Facilities Assistant Full Time Position Programs Manager Hourly rate of pay; dependent on experience Definition Under the supervision of the Programs Manager and Facilities Coordinator, the Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth Facilities Assistant is responsible for collaborating with the Facilities Coordinator in completing agency errands, housekeeping and cleaning of the Drop-in Center, general upkeep of the NPHY vehicle fleet, maintaining the supply levels of NPHY properties (Drop-in Center, Residential Units, Emergency Shelter, etc.), donation and supply organization, general facility maintenance, as well as other assigned duties. The Facilities Coordinator will assist the Programs Manager with the supervision of the Facilities Assistant. EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES Duties and Responsibilities Housekeeping: As outlined in the “Facilities Maintenance Checklist” maintain the cleanliness of interior and exterior of the Drop-in Center on a daily basis; communicate cleanliness concerns or needs to the Programs Manager and the Facilities Coordinator. This includes basic janitorial work such as sweeping/mopping floors, bathroom maintenance, wiping down surfaces, vacuuming, and other essential activities to keep the Drop-in Center and outside perimeter “tour ready.” Follow any additional guidelines and/or checklists provided governing the appearance, standards and daily operations of the Dropin Center. Supply/Inventory: Responsible for assisting in the transportation, stock and supply of critical resources for clients in the Drop-in Center, the Residential Units, and the Emergency Shelter. Work with Programs Manager to maintain and order inventory as needed. For Drop-in Center: on a daily basis fully stock and supply critical areas including the kitchen pantry, clothing/hygiene pantry, and restrooms. Facility Operations: Responsible for working with Programs Manager and/or the Facilities Coordinator to coordinate miscellaneous needs for NPHY properties that include (but are not limited to) small repairs or maintenance needs, transportation of inventory and supply as needed, identifying and communicating property concerns, and performing inspections of properties as assigned. Fleet Operations: Responsible for assisting in keeping NPHY’s vehicles clean and refueled so that they are ready for staff use at any time, and for ongoing maintenance (oil changes, tire rotations, etc.). Responsible for assisting in maintaining the Vehicle Maintenance Log, which tracks each vehicle’s maintenance records. Responsible for communicating and working with Programs Manager and/or the Facilities Coordinator to coordinate any vehicle maintenance concerns. Donation Center: Responsible for assisting in the logistics of NPHY’s donation center operations. Will accept donations at the Drop-In Center and stock, record and transport as needed. As assigned, will coordinate with other community partners, such as Goodwill, regarding donations as needed. Responsible for the organization of donations in storage area as well as the Drop-in Center pantry areas. Correspondence/Errands: As assigned, responsible for ‘mail run’ to agency Post Office Box. As assigned, will deliver all NPHY correspondence (check requests, timesheets, purchase orders, checks, gift cards, etc.) also on a daily or as-needed basis. Run various errands approved by the Executive Director or Programs Manager. These may include errands to pick-up donations or supplies. Qualifications Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Experience and knowledge in property maintenance and repairs. Some experience or ability to clean and organize facility. Basic knowledge of computer use such as email and MS Office software. Ability to drive a motor vehicle, walk, lift and carry items up to 60 lbs., push, stoop, kneel, and stand for long periods of time. Knowledge of community resources and transient youth care providers. Ability to travel in state and out-of-state. Knowledge of confidentiality laws and ability to adhere to them. Ability to work with others. Knowledge of the local community such as roads and freeways and other agency providers. Able to be punctual and maintain a schedule. Able to manage time effectively. Preferably experienced in facility maintenance and organizing donations. Requirements for Employment (Education & Experience): A minimum of a High School Diploma required. Preferred that candidate has related experience in similar position. Must be at least 21 years of age, can successfully pass a drug-test and criminal background check. Experience working with homeless youth is preferred. Current and valid Nevada Class C driver’s license and automobile insurance. Proof of acceptable driving record and reliable transportation.
