Inflatable Cloud Guide
The inflatable cloud set includes eight large inflatable clouds for classroom
decoration or hands-on exploration. Each cloud features a name label for
easy identification. To reinforce natural cloud positions, hang clouds from
the ceiling at variable heights using the hook and strings.
Inflation Instructions
1. The inflatable pieces must reach room temperature before they are
inflated to reduce temperature shock that can cause defects.
2. For best results, inflate by blowing into the valve with your mouth only.
3. Do not over inflate. Do not attempt to remove every wrinkle from
the pieces.
4. Where there are multiple sections, inflate slowly, allowing air to seep into
the smaller sections.
5. After inflating, cover the valve opening with your finger. Pinch the valve
at its base with your fingers and insert the plug into the valve opening.
Quickly insert the plug fully into the valve opening until the head of the
plug touches the opening. Press the valve into the piece until the valve
is flush with the surface of the object.
CAUTION: Do not inflate with an air compressor or any other high
pressure hose. Do not pull on valves.
THIS IS NOT A LIFESAVING DEVICE.
Maintenance and Deflation
1. Do not drag pieces over sharp objects or surfaces.
2. Avoid contact with hot or sharp objects.
3. To clean, rinse with lukewarm water and let air dry.

Cloud Descriptions
Cirrocumulus –
high-mass clouds with shadowed,
fish scale-like undersides that form a
“mackerel sky”; usually appear four to
five miles (6.4–8.1 km) above Earth
Altocumulus –
small, puffy, slowly drifting clouds that
resemble loose cotton balls; usually
appear 1.5–3.4 miles (2.5–5.5 km)
above Earth
Stratocumulus –
stratocumulus bloated, gray, darkly
shaded clouds that do not produce
rain, but sometimes form nimbostratus
(rain) clouds; usually appear four miles
(6.4 km) above Earth
Stratus –
low-lying clouds that become fog at
ground level and produce light rain
and snow; resemble a gray blanket
while hovering just one mile (1.6 km)
above Earth

Cumulus –
round, low-lying, flat-bottom clouds that
sometimes grow into thunderheads, but
usually indicate fair weather; emerge
about three miles (4.8 km) above Earth
Cirrus –
white, feathery, fair-weather clouds of
ice crystals that form at an altitude of
seven miles (11.3 km) above Earth;
often called mare’s tails on account of
wispy appearance
Altostratus –
thick, gray, sheet-like clouds that cover
the moon as a veil and do not produce
rain; materialize about five miles (8.1
km) above Earth
Cumulonimbus –
thunderhead clouds that bring violent
rain storms and tornadoes and
resemble giant anvils; ominously
appear one to three miles (1.6–4.8
km) above Earth and sometimes
descend upon land
