Notice across the top there is a disclaimer stating we have added additional layers of security to the login process. The processes will validate you as an authorized user and afford peace of mind that you are at the right website and logging safely and securely into your accounts. Also notice that there is a disclaimer at the bottom of the log in window; "Always check your browser for the 'lock' symbol that indicates that you are connected to us using an encrypted connection. If you ever doubt the authenticity of this site, double-click the lock symbol in your browser and verify the validity of the associated certificate." This is one more way customers can be sure that they are logging into a secure site. 2.1 Existing Users On the Log In Screen, existing users can type their Username into the box and click submit. Once submit is clicked, you are taken to a screen that asks for confirmation of the verification phrase. Seen below is the phrase you created when setting up your account. If it is unrecognized, do not log in; contact your financial institution immediately. Displayed below that statement is a box showing the customer created phrase. If the phrase is correct, enter the password and click submit. In the event that a customer has forgotten their password, there is a hyperlink available for password retrieval. Once an existing user has successfully logged in, their Account Summary screen will display. If you are logging into Online Banking for the first time from a new or different computer, you will be prompted to select whether or not you would like to have the machine remembered. If it is a computer you own, it is okay to select 'remember this machine' since it is not shared by unknown persons. If it is a computer you use at work or where others have access, for the protection of your confidential and sensitive information, it is highly recommended that you do not remember the machine. 5 2.1.1 Log In Sequences On the Log In Screen, existing users can type their log in Username right into the box and click submit. Once submit is clicked, you are taken to a screen that asks for confirmation of the verification phrase seen below is the phrase you created when setting up your account. Once you click Profile, your user profile will display. Click the link that says Remember/Forget Workstation. A new screen will appear asking you to choose one of the following: 1) Remember this machine. Don't make me answer extra questions to log in on this machine. (Only 'Remember this machine' on a computer owned by you, and not on any publicly accessible computer.) or 2) Don't remember this machine. Ask me security questions each time I log on. Select option 2, then click submit. Upon your next log in, you will be prompted to answer security questions before access to Online Banking is granted. 2.1.1.2 Remember this Machine Remembering a machine is exactly like forgetting a machine. Existing users can log into Online Banking and click Profile. Once the user profile is displayed, click Remember/Forget Workstation. A new screen will appear asking you to choose one of the following: 1) Remember this machine. Don't make me answer extra questions to log in on this machine. Your verification phrase for your user id will display along with a box to enter your password. Below the box there is a 'forgot your password' link. Clicking 'forgot your password' will bring up a Reset Password screen. At the top, there is a disclaimer that tells us; "A new password will be generated and sent to the registered email recipient for the user entered previously. If you have any questions or are reluctant to do this, please contact your financial institution's customer service at (XXX)-(XXX-XXXX). Note: Your financial institution's customer service number will appear. 6 Once required information has been entered, click Submit. A new password will be generated and sent to the email address for the Username entered on the log in screen. When you receive the email, log in using the password provided. You will be prompted to change your password. 2.2 New Users Anyone who is a new user to Online Banking must register. When you click Register, an Online Banking Agreement will display. It is recommended that you read the agreement before enrollment as it includes all required disclosures regarding Online Banking, prerequisites for enrollment as well as hardware and software equipment requirements and tips on internet security. If you accept the terms of the Online Banking Agreement, click Accept. If you do not agree with the terms of the Online Banking Agreement, click Decline. If you click "cancel" you can still enroll at a later time by completing an application in one of our offices. You will again be asked to accept the terms and conditions of the Online Banking Agreement. 7 To be eligible for Online Banking access, you must first have an existing bank account maintained in good standing. Online Banking will validate your identity and account(s) once you complete the Verify Identity screen. Once you have entered the required information, the following screen will display saying, "Congratulations, we were able to locate your customer record." It then asks you to select a username and password. Your username should be a minimum of 5 characters. Note the highlighted instructions for creating a password. A password must contain at least 5 characters and must meet one of the following requirements: Mixed Case (at least 1 upper and 1 lower case) ex: Stars Alpha Numeric (at least 1 letter and 1 number) ex: 2stars Special Character (at least 1 character that isn’t a number or letter) ex: &stars After you have selected a username and password that meets the criteria, click submit. If you have registered successfully, you will be logged into Online Banking and should see your accounts displayed. If you have not registered successfully, you will receive an error message. Follow the instructions to correct the error and click submit. If you are unable to correct the error, contact your financial institution. 8 3 Accounts When you first log into Online Banking, an account summary will display listing all of the accounts you have access to at the financial institution. The default screen will welcome you by your account name as seen in the upper right hand corner. Just below the welcome you have options for Log Off, Profile and Help. Lower on the right you see the control bar featuring messages, alerts, quick links and log in information. In the main section on the left side of the screen, you will see listed all accounts to which you have access. Each account is listed separately and shows the account type (checking, loan, etc.) and balance. Below is an example of the Account Summary default screen that appears when you log into online banking: In this manual, we will explore each menu tab. Some of the menus will display a submenu which we will also cover in greater detail. 9 3.1 Summary The Account Summary screen is for informational purposes. It gives a big picture snapshot of all accounts to which you have access at the financial institution. If you need additional information on a specific account, you can access the account by simply clicking the account number hyperlink. Clicking the hyperlink for the selected account will bring up the View Transactions screen with several options to customize your view. 10 3.2 Details Clicking 'Details' will bring up a view that looks like the one below. It provides a short overview of the basic account details including ledger and available balances, accrued interest, how much interest has been paid YTD, interest paid last year, current interest rate and the amount of the last deposit made to this account. Listed below are definitions that will help make this screen clearer. For example, you see a ledger balance and an available balance. The available balance is much greater than the ledger balance. If you take a look at the definition for ledger balance, you see that this is the ending balance after all debits and credits have been posted for the previous business day. With the available balance being higher, you can suspect that a transaction is pending; a deposit, transfer or wire transfer may have come in and is available for use. There is no reason to be alarmed if the two amounts differ. The available balance will include any pending debits and/or credits. Account: The last 4 digits of the account we are looking at and the nickname (if selected) Status: This field shows the status of the account Ledger Balance: The actual balance in the account as of the last posting period Available Balance: The ledger balance plus or minus any pending transactions for the business day Accrued Interest: How much interest has been earned this statement cycle YTD Interest Paid: How much interest has been paid to the account this calendar year Last Year Interest Paid: How much interested was paid to this account the previous calendar year Interest Rate: Rate of interest currently being paid on this account Last Deposit Amount: The amount of the last deposit posted to this account 11 3.3 Transactions Online Banking allows users to look at an overview of all accounts or a specific account. When looking at a specific account, you have the option to view transactions. How you choose to view transactions is up to you, the user. If you look at the screen shot below, you will see that you have several options to choose from. At the top of the screen you will see a brief overview of the account including balance and interest information. You then have a series of options to choose from regarding how you would like to view your transactions. They may be displayed by a certain business day, a date range, for example the month of June, 2005; or a particular statement. Sorting by description will list all transactions of a similar type together, for example all ATM withdrawals will all be listed together. Clicking Check # will have all checks that have cleared display in numerical order. Selecting deposit will group all deposits together which makes it easy to see if all deposits have posted. Sorting by withdrawal will list all withdrawals made for a selected day, date range or statement in order by ascending amount regardless of when it posted. When sorting by column header, the running balance will not display 12 3.4 Search Online Banking makes searching for a single transaction or series of transactions easy. If you have ever written a check and forgotten to record the check number or amount, Online Banking can help. If you aren't sure what the amount of a transactions was, Online Banking can help with that too. You have the option to search a day or date range, a minimum or maximum amount, a minimum or maximum check number, transaction description (ex: debit card) or payee, and item type debit and/or credit. All fields are optional, therefore, it is not necessary to fill every field. Doing so may actually hinder your search. Begin with what is known and broaden your search if necessary. Please keep in mind that you will only be able to view posted transactions. Pending transactions (ex: debit card used today) or future transactions (ex: direct deposit due to post next week) cannot be searched. 13 3.5 Download If you have been reluctant to use Online Banking because you would have to change everything, rest easy. The dates for which statements are available in Online Banking will automatically be displayed on the Statements screen. 15 There are two ways you can view a statement: Complete View-Shows an entire statement complete with front only views of all checks and deposit slips that cleared during the statement cycle 16 Text Only View-Shows an entire statement in a text only format. Online Banking puts you, the user, in control of any and all transfers. Once a transfer is set up, you have the option to edit it at any time. Just click the Edit link under the Action header and you will be able to make changes to a transfer. Below you will see an example of an edit transfer screen. Please notice that all but two fields are required. Your transfer will be made according to the information you provide: Which account would you like the funds to come out of? To which account is the money going? 18 How much would you like to transfer? It is not necessary to list a description for the transfer unless it helps you to remember why the transfer is happening. When would you like the money to transfer; one time, daily, weekly or monthly? What date of the month would you like the money to be transferred? When would you like your first transfer to take place? An ending date is not required unless you would like for the transfer to stop on a specified date otherwise it can continue indefinitely if you like. It can be edited at any time. When this transfer will take place in the coming months is displayed at the bottom of the screen. Click Submit to save your changes and schedule your transfer. Any changes that have been made to a transfer are recorded and can be viewed by clicking the View Change History button. Please note: Any transfers submitted after (xx:xx time) on the current business day will not be processed until the next business day. Changing your password periodically is a good idea especially if you use a shared computer. A best practice for changing your password is to have one in mind before you change it. That way, it is much easier to remember than making one up on the spur of the moment. Online Banking passwords require certain criteria for log in. Examples of these criteria are listed below: Your password must contain at least 5 characters and it must meet one of the following requirements: 8.2 Mixed case (at least 1 upper and 1 lower case) ex: Stars Alpha Numeric (at least 1 letter and 1 number) ex: 2stars Special Character (at least 1 character that isn't a number or letter) ex: &stars Update Security Phrase A Verification Phrase or Passphrase is put in place as an added measure of security to make sure you are at the correct site for Online Banking and will be logging into your accounts securely. A passphrase is selected by you, the user, at registration. When you log into Online Banking, on the first screen, you will enter your user ID and click Submit. On the second screen is where you will see your passphrase. If for any reason you don't recognize the passphrase, DO NOT ENTER YOUR PASSWORD! Delete your current passphrase from the box, enter a new one and click Submit. 28 8.3 Update Security Questions Security Questions are a way of identifying a user upon log in to make sure your accounts stay secure. If you use a shared workstation and have selected Forget Workstation or if you are logging in from a new computer for the first time, you will be prompted at log in to provide the answers to your pre-selected security questions. To provide maximum protection for your online accounts from unauthorized use, it is best to choose questions that only you or another authorized user will know the answers to. Your answers will not be case-sensitive. Five questions must be selected or composed and answered. Once you have selected or composed your 5 questions and entered your answers, click Submit to save your questions and answers. Questions and/or answers can be changed or updated at any time by clicking on Profile and then clicking Update Security Questions. Change or customize any question and click Submit to save changes. 29 Preselected options from the drop down box include questions that you, the user, can easily recall the answers to. Below, you can see the questions you may choose from: Remember, it isn't required that you choose from these questions. You may elect to make up your own and can do so by typing your question into the text box then typing your answer into the answer box. A custom question, for example might be, "In what city did you honeymoon?" or "What street did you grow up on?" and "What was the name of your first pet?" Your answers are not case-sensitive. That means no matter how you type your answer into the box, as long as it is correct, it will be accepted. For example: You select the challenge question: "What is the make and model of your first car?" You type your answer as Chevy Nova using correct capitalization. When logging in and prompted to provide an answer to this question, you can type chevy nova with no capitalization and it will be considered a correct answer. 30 8.4 Update Profile Update Profile is a place where account and user information can be changed or updated. Online Banking will time out after an extended period of inactivity but it is always recommended that you remember to log off. 33 8.7 Remember/Forget Workstation Online Banking offers a number of security options from which a user can choose. One of those options is to remember or forget a workstation. Remembering a workstation means that when logging in, you will enter your user name and be taken immediately to the screen to verify your security passphrase and enter your password. Once you have entered your password and clicked Submit, you will access Online Banking. If you log into Online Banking from a computer you own, it is perfectly okay to select 'Remember this machine'. If you use a shared workstation, or access the internet at a library or internet cafe, basically anywhere that you don't have sole control of the computer, you will want to select 'Forget this machine'. Selecting 'forget this machine' will prompt you to answer 3 of your 5 previously selected challenge questions to verify your identity before you are able to view your passphrase and enter your password. The screen below is an example of what you will see when you log into a workstation for the very first time: 34 8.8 View History of Online Activity View History of Online Activity keeps track of all log in and maintenance activity performed in Online Banking.
