It only takes 0,04 gram bleached cotton on each end to
turn a plastic or paper stick into a cotton swab. Precisely
because of this small amount, maximum accuracy is required during the manufacturing process to efficiently produce a consistent high-quality product.
By applying latest production methods, this requires only a
very short manufacturing process.
Opening
The bleached cotton is supplied in form of bales. Due to
the manufacturing process, the single bales differ in quality. To compensate for this, the material of several bales is
opened and mixed via a bale opener with a mixing room.
The fine opener TO-T1 is fed directly by the bale opener
and provides optimal tuft opening for subsequent processing on the card.

Card
The Card TC 7H provides optimal and gentle opening of
the fibre material. The special design of the card minimises
the loss of good fibres. Various control circuits in the
feeding system and within the card ensure very high evenness at delivery side. At the output of the card, blow nozzles divide the web into four equal sections, which are
combined into one sliver and simultaneously deposited
into a quad can coiler.
These slivers, weighing between 1,3 and 1,7 ktex, can be
fed directly into the cotton swab machine.

Cotton swab machine
In the cotton swab machine, approx. 3 cm long pieces are separated from the cotton
sliver and wound around the ends of the sticks. Depending on application, the tips of the
cotton swabs can have different shapes. The swabs are packed semi-automatically or
fully automatically into boxes or bags, according to customer requirements.
