Conjugate Acids and Bases Activity Chemistry Purpose: To see the transfer of a proton in an acid base pair Materials: Acid Base Cards Bingo chips Procedure: Obtain a set of cards and Bingo chips. Lay out the cards according to the data table below. Look at the number of hydrogens on each formula card and count out that number of bingo chips. Place a bingo chip for each hydrogen atom on the acid and base. Determine the conjugate base and conjugate acid for the reaction. Lay down these cards and transfer the correct number of chips to the conjugate side. Data: Acid HCl HCl H2O HC2H3O2 H3PO4 HOCN H2SO4 HNO2 Base H2O NH3 NH3 H2O HCO3-1 NH3 H2O HSO4-1 Conclusions 1.
