We may feel angry, stressed or experience depression. Read Yourself Well is a collection of self-help books, which can help us to deal with these health problems. The titles chosen have been recommended by health professionals and are designed to give practical information and advice. Self-help books can be very effective when read on their own, or when used with prescribed medication, counselling or therapy. They can also encourage selfawareness and understanding of health issues. These books have been chosen for their practical information, advice and selfhelp approach. The aim is for people to develop strategies for coping and for improving their health and well-being. Copies of all these titles can be found in the Surrey libraries listed on the back of this booklet. The books can be borrowed for either 3 or 6 weeks, and if a particular title is not available, then it can be requested for you on payment of a small reservation fee. Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway by Susan Jeffers This book aims to give readers the tools to help deal with any situation, and to live their life the way they want. Living with Fear by Isaac M Marks Using case studies to emphasise its points, this book gives practical advice to sufferers of panic attacks or phobias. 4 Depression Is He Depressed or What? by David B Wexler Highlighting some of the ways in which men express depression, the author suggests strategies for dealing with these behaviour patterns. Overcoming Depression by Paul Gilbert Using step by step suggestions, examples and practical ideas, this book provides a guide for sufferers of depression and also their friends and family. Mind Over Mood by Dennis Greenberger & Christine A Padesky Using cognitive behavioural therapy techniques, readers are taught how to understand and improve their moods, alter their behaviour and enhance their relationships. Overcoming Mood Swings by Jan Scott Using a self-help programme, this book covers self-monitoring, self-regulation and medication management for those who suffer emotional extremes.
