The drawings relates to the event that took place on
Christmas Eve  when David Jones and René Hague
were sent out from The Monastery at Capel-y-ffin to
investigate why there was no water. They discovered
that the stream had been blocked by a local farmer.

On moving at some time after the painting was made
Jones cut out roughly and inexpertly a number of oil
canvases. Oil paintings are not unknown in Jones’
oeuvre but are uncommon.
