SCIENTIFIC METHOD STEPS Ask a Question Scientists are curious and creative observers of the world around them Measureable questions help you to create a hypothesis and test that will have measureable results. Form a Hypothesis Make an educated guess about why or how something happens. Write it in the form of an “I believe…” and “…because…” statement. In a comparison test, everything you do to one experimental group must be exactly the same as you do to the other group (control group). In our tests, we want to collect quantitative data Always use a data table to record measurable results Create a graph whenever possible Plan and Perform Test Organize Results Draw a Conclusion Communicate Your Results Whatever happens in your test, think about the reasons for your results. You should be able to explain the results in your graph to others. Share your findings with other scientists. When ideas are shared, new hypothesis can be formed and discoveries can be made.
