Cf10, CF12 and
60th anniversary launch
The link between Colnago and Ferrari dates back to 1986. The first
collaboration yielded several bikes, some of which have made history in
the spor t of cycling. The most significant example is the first “Concept”
bike – which had a carbon fiber frame (the first ever), an internal gear
shift, and a hydraulic braking system. Therefore, the CF10 and CF12
bikes represent the ultimate dream collaboration between Colnago and
Ferrari, and solidify the continuity of this project. The first is based on
the V1-r, a monocoque carbon fiber frame, the lightest ever produced
in the history of Colnago. The second, also a monocoque carbon fiber
frame, on the basis of the 27.5 inch MC27 mountain bike frame.
Another very special piece in the exposition was the 60th Anniversary
bike, the latest jewel from Colnago, available in limited-edition
production with only sixty pieces to be made. It’s an elegantly dressed
C60 – matte black tubing with silver lugs. It also features a completely
new, direct-mount braking system – a feature not yet available on the
standard C60. It was an object of admiration and a must-see for many
visitors of Eurobike, and the stunning Ferrari 458 that shared the
booth with the bikes could not have been in a better location.

COLNAGO 60 anniversary
The Colnago-Ferrari collaboration was prominently displayed at Eurobike –
with two road bikes and a mountain bike in the booth space. And at the center
of it all was the 60th Anniversary bike – celebrating the sixtieth anniversary
of the company founded in 1954.

La Vuelta:
Sicard
in the Top 15
This season, Pierre Rolland placed eleventh in the
Tour de France and fourth at the Giro d’Italia. The
thirteenth place finish of Romain Sicard in La Vuelta
also indicates that Team Europcar is a strong team to
compete in stage races
Team Europcar
Natnael Berhane
It’s difficult to expect more from a race with so many champions at the star t line. Before leaving
for the Tour of Spain, the team had set a goal to include at least one rider in the top twenty in
the overall standings. Sicard’s result, therefore, went beyond all expectations. To this it must
be added that there were numerous breaks by Europcar riders – always on the attack. Although
the podium escaped Europecar in La Vuelta, their overall results show they are true Grand Tour
contenders. In addition to the four th place result obtained by Yannick Mar tinez in the nineteenth
stage, Jimmy Engoulvent also took fifth place in the final time-trial stage.
Overall results:
13th Romain Sicard
35th Maxime Mederel
78th Jerome Cousin
81st Yannick Martinez
91st Vincent Jerome
140th Dan Craven
148th Natnael Berhane

Villumsen
wins
the Tour
de l’Ardeche
It was a big day for the Wiggle Honda pro cycling team
at the Tour de l’Ardeche, the short stage-race that takes
place in the French Alps. Linda Villumsen won the general
classification, and Giorgia Bronzini the points jersey!
Wiggle Honda’s time in France was a great success, and a better result is difficult to
imagine. The New Zealander Linda Villumsen, of Danish origin, took first place in the race
that is held in the area of Ardèche, a region of the Rhône-Alpes. It’s a short but intense
race on roads rich with the history of cycling. To complete the successful week, Italian
Giorgia Bronzini, who in September will be preparing for Worlds (which she has already
won twice), took three stages in the sprint – showing excellent form. Yet these are not the
only wins for the team – Villumsen also won the second stage time trial of 6.7 kilometers.
In fact, she wore the leader’s jersey from that point until the end of the race.

Irina Kalentieva, the Russian-born athlete
with Team RusVelo, won second place at the
World Cross Country MTB Championships
held at Hejfell, Norway. Eva Lechner, also
in the race, placed eleventh
The first place title went to Canadian Catharine Pendrel, the strongest of all
competing athletes. In fact, the thirty-four year old had no opponents – she
was at the front on the first lap, and won by completing six laps in 1hr 31’ 30 “.
In the first four laps behind the leaders, pursuing the duo WloszczowskaKalentieva, Kalentieva chased a short distance from Lea Davison who, during
the fifth lap, took third place while Poland lost several positions. At the beginning
of the bell lap, the American racer was in third position behind the Russian with
a gap of just over ten seconds, but Kalentieva managed to increase it to about
twenty-two seconds at the finish.
A disappointed Eva Lechner was almost never
in the heat of the race:
“I was hoping for something more but, unfortunately, over the course of the
season I had bad luck with my health and was not able to train like I wanted. But
I will not forget the victory at the World Cup in Australia, in Cairns, and fifth place
at the final in Méribel. What’s done is done, and now we must move forward“.

Colnago Cycling
Festival postponed
to May 15th
through 17th
To avoid a conflict with the Gran Fondo dedicated to Felice
Gimondi, to be held in Bergamo, the Colnago event has moved to
the following week than originally scheduled.
Ernesto Colnago and Felice Gimondi are two people who have
indelibly marked the history of cycling. The first is a builder
and innovator in the world of bicycles, the second is one of the
strongest in the saddle. But both are dedicated to two of the
most important cycling events in the Italian calendar. At first, the
two races were scheduled for the same weekend. But, to avoid
the duplication of dates, an agreement was reached between the
two organizing committees to keep them separate. Therefore,
the 19th Gran Fondo Felice Gimondi will be held on May 10th
2015, while the Colnago Cycling festival will be postponed by a
week (15th, 16th, and 17th of May 2015). At Eurobike, the two
champions of Italian cycling met cordially and shook hands –
officially solidifying the schedule change.

The “Precisa”
fork
Colnago Makes
History
The introduction of the straightblade fork is an important moment
in the history of Colnago’s bike
production. It was a turning point
that led the entire cycling industry
into a new era
Strokes of genius are unpredictable, and the
history of the Precisa fork is similar. In 1988,
the forks fitted to the bikes Ernesto Colnago
has designed have curved blades. This is the
tradition at the time, and it’s an established fact
that no one manufacturer had ever thought to
change. They’re good, they look perfect, they are
light, and they do not have significant defects.
Yet, the intuition comes from a discussion with
the “Drake”, Enzo Ferrari, another pioneer of
the twentieth century. From concept, through
tests and trials, until finalization, it’s a shor t
step. The discovery is revolutionary. A fork
with straight blades can guarantee exceptional
results, far superior to forks with curved
blades. The results of the tests conducted by
the engineers at Ferrari speak for themselves.
Vibration absorption is maximized (also
benefitting the integrity of the headset), the
danger of resonance by vibrations transmitted
from uneven surfaces is controlled, and better
comfor t and handling precision is achieved.
Simply put, a frame with a straight fork is much
easier to control, and is more safe and stable
– a success! From that moment on, the Precisa
fork, renamed by Ernesto Colnago, supplanted
the classic style and the entire cycling industry
adapted the new design.

The V1-r is the new frame from Colnago designed for
cyclists who are particular about their bike’s weight-toperformance ratio. It is made with the highest quality
carbon fiber, selected in cooperation with Ferrari,
which is why is we use the Cavallino logo on each frame.
The frame is monocoque, with aerodynamic shaped
tube sections, and full-carbon rear dropouts.
The V1-r is the best monocoque frame produced in
Colnago’s sixty year history.
