Information and Guidelines
This application is for four (4) different scholarships set specifically for UH Hilo College of Business and
Economics (CoBE) students.
CRITERIA FOR APPLICATION
1.
Applicant must be enrolled as a classified student in a UH Hilo, College of Business and
Economics degree or certificate program. Priority is given to students pursuing their first
baccalaureate degree.
2.
Applicant must have completed a minimum of 12 graded credits from coursework in UH Hilo
College of Business and Economics at the time of application. Course credits for which
students elect the CR/NC option do not count in the total number of credits.
3.
Applicant must meet the minimum UH Hilo GPA as stated on the scholarship criteria. (Transfer
courses are not included in the GPA calculation.)

LENGTH AND AMOUNT OF AWARD
The awards will be for the Fall 2017 and Spring 2018 academic year. In the case of students receiving
other forms of financial aid, the total value of this award and all other financial aid may not exceed the
student’s computed financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office.
A semester and cumulative GPA specific to the named scholarship must be maintained between the
award date and the semester to which the award is applied. The Dean of UH Hilo College of Business
and Economics or the Dean’s representative will confirm continued eligibility.
An award is typically granted for a period of one regular academic year (Fall and Spring semesters).
Continuation of the Scholarship from the Fall through the Spring semester is contingent upon
completion of at least 12 graded credit hours each semester at UH Hilo with a minimum cumulative
and current semester GPA of said scholarship. Course credits for which students elect the CR/NC
option do not count in the total number of credits (unless a course is required for the major and offered
only on a CR/NC basis).
Only complete applications will be reviewed and considered. Late applications will be considered should
there be remaining funds available.
Students must reapply for the scholarship each academic year.

CoBE Merit Scholarship




Full-time, undergraduate CoBE student who has completed 12 graded credits
UH Hilo Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better
Applicants that did not receive an award in the Fall will be considered for a Spring semester if
funds become available
The Scholarship may be awarded for a maximum of four (4) years or eight (8) semesters
Hawaii Island Chamber





Full-time CoBE student
Entering or continuing Junior or Senior during the scholarship year
Show academic excellence
Show participation in school and community activities
Must be of good moral character
Hilo Rotary Club



Full-time undergraduate CoBE student
Graduate of Hawaii Island High School preferred
Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better
Taketa, Iwata, Hara & Associates Scholarship



Full-time undergraduate CoBE student majoring in Accounting
Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better
Preference to graduates of a State of Hawaii high school
