1. Make sure account used to install has Administrator rights, the computer is not on a domain and
any open programs are saved and closed
2. Change Windows theme to Windows Classic (Does not need to be done in Windows 8 or
Windows XP)
A. Right click anywhere on the desktop and left click the option Personalize
B. Scroll down the list and left click the option Windows Classic

C. Once done, the theme will be changed to Windows Classic
3. Microsoft .NET 3.5 needs to be installed
A. Go to the Control Panel. (In Windows 8, go to the Desktop and then hover the mouse in the
top right corner. In the tab that opens, select Settings and then Control Panel)
B. In Control Panel, click “Uninstall a program.” If this option does not show up, at the top right
make sure the “View by” is set to Category

C. In the next screen, select “Turn Windows features on or off”
D. Check the box that says .NET Framework 3.5

E. It may ask you to download an update. Click “Download files from Windows Update”

F. Once it is finished, it will say “Windows completed the requested changes.” Reboot the
computer
4. Go to http://setup.careanyware.com and there are two links to install. One is for 32-bit
machines and the other is for 64-bit. To see what version your computer is, right click on My
Computer and click Properties. It should say under System.
5. Once you click and run the installer, it will reboot your computer almost immediately because it
is turning off User Account Control settings (UAC). If UAC ever turns back on, please contact
Brightree support to get that turned back off.

6. Once the first part of the installation completes, one of two screens will pop up
A. If you see an error like the one below, please stop with the installation and contact
Brightree support
B. If you do not see an error, click the OK button to reboot the computer

7. Once the computer reboots, the installer will automatically continue
8. After 3 or so reboots, sync will ask for user id and password.
A. Cancel that prompt
B. Cancel the next prompt

9. Let the Updater finish. When it is done, the Brightree Updater window will close automatically
10. Check Windows Date and Time and make sure correct Time Zone, date and time are selected
11. Setup the Intellisync Mobile Suite software
A. Click on Setup and then Connection

B. Change the Server name/IP field. To find out what to change it to, log into AFO and go to
Admin> Mobiles> Devices. You will see a line that says Sync Server. Type in what it shows
here. An example would be sync2.careanyware.com as shown in the following screen shot.

12. Click on the blue Sync button in Intellisync Mobile Suite
13. Sync will prompt for the user name and password. These numbers will be provided to you by
Brightree. (The number in this screenshot is an example only, please do not use)

14. A message will pop up saying CPOC has been updated. Click OK.

15. Sync will take an estimated 45 minutes to complete. You will know it is complete when the Sync
Progress window closes by itself.
16. In the Intellisync Mobile Suite window, you may see a red error that says “MoveCCLog merge
operation failed. {hr: [0x80004005]: Unspecified error IMoveCCLog.cpp, 153}.”

17. Sync 2-3 more times to clear that error. If it does not, please contact Brightree Support
18. Once Sync errors no longer appear, double click Brightree icon on desktop

19. Click CPOC Application button
20. Enter the user name and password provided to you by your trainer

21. Once the Alerts screen opens, laptop is ready for training
22. Laptops become disabled after 30 days of inactivity, sync computer at least once per 14 days
