Tips for Writing Your Own Wedding Vows Keep in mind, there are many ways to write them, this is only one suggestion! I suggest sitting on your own when starting to write your own wedding vowsit can be difficult to focus if there is a lot of distraction around you! 1. Reminisce for a few minutes on how you two met, what your first date was like, how he/she proposed. Think back to all of the good times you have had together! 2. Think about what made you fall in love with him/her, what he/she does to make you smile. Think about your inside jokes! 3. As you are thinking and reminiscing on the things that made you two fall in love, start taking notes (almost like an outline). 4. Think of cute nicknames you may call each other- write those down. 5. Now here comes the fun part! Start to write out your first sentence- there is no right or wrong, just speak from the heart! Keep writing and eventually you will find a rhythm! 6. Your beginning sentence could be something like: (insert name), I am beyond thankful that you and I are standing here today before our friends and family. As we think back to all of our great memories, and look forward to the ones to come; there is one thing I can say for certain- you have made these memories special and have made me fall in love with you more and more each day and with each moment! The way you…. (go into some of your things you love about him/her). etc.. 7. Next, go into your promises (the vows). - some examples are: I promise to always love you, even if you leave your clothes all over the floor or if you don’t put the toilet paper back on the holder. I vow to stay faithful to you. I will laugh with you and will cry with you (and so on). 8. Mention again how much you love them, and why. Wrap it up with a direct sentence (insert name), I can’t wait to serve you as your husband/wife. 9. Do NOT wait until the last minute if possible, it might make it feel rushed. On the other hand, if rushed makes you feel urgency to get things done well- then wait until you feel emotionally connected and ready to complete it right before the wedding day! 10.Lastly, try to soak in as much as you can as you write them down, and don’t be afraid to get emotional!
