I worked in the standard oil business it was very successful! Q3: How long did your monopoly last and why did it close? My Oil monopoly lasted from 1882, until 1911 when Congress closed it under new monopoly rules. Q4: How did you become such a monopoly? I sold oil all over the world, in fact more than 90% of all the oil of the world came from one of my plants. Q5: When did you retire? And why? I retired in 1933. I was overloaded with work! I had a nervous breakdown! I lost much of my hair and retired. Andrew Carnegie Q1: What was your first job? Answer: I was a bobbin boy in a cotton factory at thirteen. Q2: In what ocupation did you work? Answer: I worked in steel Q3: Did you own a monopoly? Answer: Yes. Q4: Did you merge with other companies? Answer: Yes, I merged with U.S. steel.
