The Southern Memorial Association of Alexandria on December 27, 1879 created the 'Christ Church Yard Mound'
of Confederate dead listed in this table. The thirty-six Confederate dead were removed from the National
Cemetery at Alexandria, Virginia to the Christ Church Yard. The names of the Confederate soldiers and their
organizational units were taken from a list prepared by Geo. W. Rock under the date of December 27, 1879.
Of the two unknown Confederate soldiers in the mound one is believed to be John Bennett Davis of Prince
William County, Virginia a member of Mosby's Command according to Mr. Rock.
In 1879 a Tablet was erected at Episcopal High School, Alexandria, in Pendleton Hall today, with sixty-one
names of those once at the school who died in the service of the Confederate States, A. D. 1861 - 1865.
