What map data is available?
• British Geological Survey DigMapGB - onshore geological
mapping at 5 scales, from 1:10000 to 1:625000. All available
in Shape format.
• British Geological Survey DigMapGB has a selection of
layers, including superficial deposits, mass movement,
artificial ground and linear features. NOTE: layers provided
vary by scale.
• The Superficial Deposits Thickness Model (SDTM) is a
raster-based dataset demonstrating the variation in
thickness of Quaternary-age superficial deposits, derived
from borehole information and geological map data.
• Offshore Geology at a scale of 1:250000, which includes
bedrock geology, fault lines and seabed sediments.
• Lexicon of Named Rock Units information about all
allostratigraphical, lithostratigraphical and lithodemic units
of member and higher rank that are used on BGS maps.
• Onshore Borehole Index, with over 1.3 million entries.
• Geological Indicators of Flooding –information on areas
where Superficial Deposits show evidence of flooding. Areas
classified as high or low risk.
• Permeability Indices data based on the DigMapGB 1:50000
scale. The Permeability Index consists of a three-part code
