SWIMINATOR NEWS
Transfiguration is part of the Swiminators which is a joint swim team consisting of swimmers from five
schools: Presentation, St. Jerome's, St. Peter's, St. Jude of the Lake and Transfiguration. There are 72 swimmers on the
team this year and 65 were available this last weekend to enter the CAA State Prelims. For Transfiguration, we had 10
out of our 11 swimmers at the meet.
Swiminator Results, CAA State Finals:
Boys Jr Division (K-6): 2nd out of 19 Teams
Boys Sr Division (7-8): 8th out of 15 Teams
Girls Jr Division (K-6): 8th out of 21 Teams
Girls Sr Division (7-8): 12th out of 18 Teams
Saturday April 1st, Skyview Elementary, CAA State Prelims
At this meet the Top 16 Finishers in each Grade Group and Event advance to the CAA State Finals held at the University
of Minnesota Aquatic Center. The competition Grade Groups are: K-2, 3-4, 5-6 and 7-8. There was stiff competition this
year with 21 teams and 1,003 swimmers entered in the CAA Prelims.
This meet turned into a marathon of endurance for the coaches, six back-to-back sessions with the first warm-up session
starting at 8:00 AM and the last event ending after 9:00 PM. The Swimmers kept us revved up with their enthusiasm
and excitement to vie for a chance to advance to the CAA State Finals. The Swiminators had a great day with 27 out of
31 Boys and 24 out of 34 Girls advancing to the Finals!
Sean V (6) started out in the first session with a great preview of what was to come by advancing to the Finals in the 50
Back and Breast. The next session followed with Dane D (4) swimming the 25 Breast, finishing in 1 st Place and setting a
CAA State Prelims Record!! Jack K (4) followed with a 2nd Place finish in the 50 Breast. Valery H (6) advanced to the
Finals by swimming to 3rd place finishes in the 50 Breast and Fly and Danielle W (5) qualified as an alternate in the 25
back with an 18 Place finish and advanced to the finals in the 200 Free Relay. Noah V (3) moved up from a 15 th seed to
an 8th Place finish in the 25 Back and just missed qualifying as an alternate in the 50 Free by moving up from a 23 rd
seed to a 19th Place finish. Chris W (5) (who swims with Transfiguration from St. Pascals) qualified for the Finals with an
11th Place 50 Free and an 8th Place 100 Free.
C
Our first-year swimmers had a great showing and continued to improve throughout the season. Mariano M (3) swam to a
45th finish out of 51 in the 25 Back, Summer N (3) had rough start in the 25 Free by swallowing a gulp of water during
her race, but she powered through to the finish. She regained her composure with a quick turnaround to swim the 25
Back fast enough to move up 9 spots from her seed time. Alex M (K) moved up from a 71 st seed to finish 62nd in the 25
Free and from a 79th seed to finish 43rd in the K-2 Grade Group. For all three of these swimmers, they will stay in the
same Grade Groups next year which should allow them to move up in the results as they get bigger, stronger and faster!

Tuesday, April 4th, Boys CAA State Finals, University of Minnesota Aquatic Center
The Swiminators first event led off with the Boys Grade 3-4 100 Medley Relay with a 1 st Place
finish with Quang N (St. Jerome’s) swimming the Back, Dane D swimming the Breast, Jack K
swimming the Fly, and Dan R (St. Peters) swimming the Free. They missed the CAA State Record by only .57 of a second! This year makes a trifecta, being the 3 rd year in a row that Dane
and Jack were on the 1st Place Medley Relay team for their age group starting with a CAA State
Record in the K-2 Grade Group two years ago, way to go!
Dane also had another fantastic year with a #1 Seed in the Relay, 25 Breast and 100 IM, displaying the hard work he has put in with his club teams. He did not disappoint and led from the
start to the finish 1st Place in each race AND just missed the CAA State Record in all three of his
events by less than 1 second! He bested is CAA Prelims Sate Record in the 25 Breast and
missed the Finals Record by just .06 of a second! This is quite an accomplishment; the CAA
Finals Records are very fast and would be competitive in any league as many of the top swimmers on the metro area club swim teams seem to also be enrolled at a CAA school. Our Swiminators meet many of them (and their records) head to head at the Finals.

Noah moved from a 15 seed at Prelims to an 8 th Place finish in the 25 Back Finals and was instrumental as well in moving
his 100 Free Relay team from 7th to 6th with a fast lead-off leg. This relay saw several changes in position as it progressed,
but our team pulled it out at the end to move up.
Sean finished 10 in the 50 Back and had a fantastic improvement in the 50 Breast while swimming as the 16 th seed and at
a disadvantage from the outside lane to first place in his heat, finishing9 th overall! He also had a 3rd Place Relay Finish and
helped move this team from a 7th place seed time with an impressive lead-off 50 Back. Chris W fought hard to move the
team up to 3rd with the Freestyle anchor leg.
Jack had 2nd Place finishes in both his 25 Fly and 50 Breast and just missed 1 st in the Fly getting edged out by .19 of a second.
Great job to all of our boys in placing so well and adding to our Team points. In the Boys Junior Division, we took 2 nd with
436 Points, just edging out St. Odilia with 425.5 and Holy Spirit with 416.5. Every finishing spot from all them made a big
difference in moving up to 2nd place overall.
Wednesday, April 5th, Girls CAA State Finals, University of Minnesota Aquatic Center
This meet started out pretty rough for the Swiminators with the first two Medley Relay teams getting Disqualified for stroke
infractions in the K-2 and 3-4 Grade Groups.
THEN came Valery and her Grade 5-6 Medley Relay team in our third team event. They fought hard to get some points on
the board and Valery put it all out there with a great Fly to help move the team from a 5 th place seed to a 4th Place Finish!
Valery added more points later in the meet with hard fought, very competitive races in the 50 Fly and Breast. In the 50 Fly,
she finished in 6th Place, with Places 3-6 separated by less than one second, and in the 50 Breast she finished in 4 th Place,
missing 3rd by less than a second.
Danielle W did not get to swim as an Alternate in the 25 Back (all of the other swimmers were there) but she stuck with us
until the second to last event of the Meet in the 200 Free Relay. Her team pulled in a 12 th Place and valuable points for the
team. Great job ladies for these contributions to the team, we needed these points as were outnumbered by quite a few
other teams!
