When they drew near to the village to which they were going, He appeared to be going
further; but they pressed Him to stay with them. "It is nearly evening," they said,
"and the day is almost over." So He went in to stay with them.
Now while He was with them at table, He took the bread and said the blessing;
then He broke it and handed it to them. And their eyes were opened and they
recognized Him; but He had vanished from their sight. Then they said to each other,
"Did not our hearts burn within us as He talked to us on the road and
explained the scriptures to us?"

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Our diocese will be taking up the
Catholic Home Missions Appeal on
May 7, 2017 and I ask that you
prayerfully consider participating. This appeal supports
the dioceses here in our own country that struggle to
make ends meet and to serve all of the needs of their
parishioners. It is through your generosity that many
churches are able to keep their doors open and provide
essential pastoral services.
Thank you for strengthening the Church at home.
PLEASE PRAY for all our sick parishioners, relatives,
friends and their caregivers, and all those listed in
Our Lady's Prayer Chain.

My friends in Christ:
PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL NOMINATIONS
Today marks the beginning of the nomination process for three (3) open positions on our Parish Pastoral
Council. The nomination process takes place over a two week period, beginning on Saturday, April 29 and ending
on Sunday May 14 after the Noon Mass. I ask you to please give careful consideration for possible candidates and
complete the Nomination Form inserted in this week’s bulletin. You can also print a copy of the form from our
Parish Website. Your completed form can be returned in the collection basket, in the boxes at the church exits, or
at the rectory. The election will take place on the weekend of May 27-28.
What is a Parish Pastoral Council and what does it do?
The Parish Pastoral Council is a consultative body that advises and assists the Pastor in areas of “pastoral
matters.” It serves to set overall direction and provide strategies to best promote parish vitality. The
Council focuses on the developmental aspects of our Parish, makes recommendations, and helps the Pastor
with implementation of these plans through consensus and prayerful reflection.
What is a “pastoral matter”?
Any issue, program or strategy related to our very nature and purpose as a parish. Pastoral matters include,
but are not limited to assessing the quality of parish liturgies, music & religious education programs,
exploring ways to ensure greater inclusion of young adults, school families, senior citizens, etc. in our
parish family. Other areas include cluster planning, reviewing efforts to reach out and welcome those who
have left our faith community or those who may never have been part of our faith community, determining
what we can do as a parish family to help foster and cultivate our faith within the family unit, aid the
disadvantaged, shut-ins, unemployed, etc…
How much of a time commitment is required to be on the Parish Council?
The Parish Council meets once a month for nine months. Our meetings generally run 90 minutes.
If elected, how long is the term?
Each elected position is three (3) years in length.
How do I go about nominating myself or someone else?
For a two week period from April 29 to May 14, the nomination process takes place. During this process,
parishioners may submit themselves or someone else. Each nomination is contacted and asked if they
approve their nomination. Once all accepting nominees are identified, a personal profile and photograph
will be published for parishioner review. If elected, the term begins in July, 2017 and ends in June of 2020
for three full years.
God bless!
