Function 2.1 Purpose The lever arm type stretcher SP 09.. is part of a belt tension control system. It is used in the wire section of paper machines to maintain a constant wire tension. Fluctuations in clothing tension due to varying process conditions are automatically compensated, thus providing the prerequisites for efficient production and consistent paper quality. 2.2 Design 5 7 6 4 2 3 Belt tension control system with lever arm type stretcher SP 0901/SP 0902 1 The belt tension control system consists of: (1) load cell, (2) belt tension controller and actuator (lever arm type stretcher). The lever arm type stretcher in turn, consists of the following modules: (3) one drive with electro motor (optionally pneumatic motor) (4) two lifting units (5) two bearing supports for supporting the tension roller (optional) (6) two lever arms (7) one transverse shaft The tension roller is made available by the customer. 2.2.1 Versions The lever arm type stretcher SP 09.. is available in 2 versions. The versions are design-oriented to their mechanical load (lifting force of the entire system). - SP 0901 for total lifting forces up to 35 kN - SP 0902 for total lifting forces up to 100 kN Both versions are corrosion-proof for use in the wet end. An electromotor or alternatively a pneumatic motor (up to 60 °C) may be used as a drive. The belt tension is measured electronically. The electronic measuring sensor PD 7 allows for connection to a E+L belt tension controller or a master control system. D Page 4 BEA--250394-EN-06 Lever arm tensioner SP 0901/SP 0902 2.3 Operating principle The load cell measures the actual tension value of the moving belt. In automatic mode the belt tension controller permanently compares the belt tension actual and set values. In the event of deviations it produces the positioning signal for lever tensioner drive. The latter moves both lifting units on which the tension roller is mounted. The circulating wire is hereby tightened or slackened and the belt tension retained at a consistent preselected set value. The transverse shaft links the two lifting units so that they react simultaneously. In manual mode the user may trigger the drive via push buttons and move the lifting units. The maximum belt tension should hereby be observed, as it is not automatically limited. 3. Mounting The lever arm type stretcher should be mounted by qualified or suitably instructed personnel only. Please observe the locally applicable and professional safety and accident prevention regulations. 3.1 Transport and unpacking Transport the lever arm type stretcher in the original E+L packaging only. Manoeuvre lifting units with care due to the gears and motor. Check the lever arm type stretcher for damage. Dispose of packaging material in the proper manner. 3.2 Assembly The lever arm type stretcher may be mounted upright, suspended or vertically. Please refer to the attached dimensioned drawing for the mounting dimensions. Secure the lifting units on the machine frame so that they may still be aligned. Align the lifting units. See illustration opposite. Align lifting units The diagonals d1 and d2 and the gap between the bearing centers l1 and l2 must be the same: d1=d2 and l1=l2. Fix the lifting units securely to the machine frame. Mount transverse shaft. Tighten fixing screws with torque spanner. For tightening torque see label on transverse shaft. Mount the bearing supports (optional). Then mount the tension roller One of the tension roller bearings must be designed as a movable bearing so that length compensations can be made when the tension roller is set at a slant. BEA--250394-EN-06 D Page 5 Lever arm tensioner SP 0901/SP 0902 4. Installation The lever arm type stretcher should be installed by qualified or suitably instructed personnel only. Please observe the locally applicable and professional safety and accident prevention regulations. Perform electrical and pneumatic (only when a pneumatic motor is used) installation according to the included circuit diagram and controller tubing and wiring diagram. Run signal lines (e.g. sensor lines) away from noisy or heavy current carrying leads (e.g. motor cables). Ensure that the signal line protection is only grounded at the belt tension controller. Pneumatic lines should be run so that they do not present any dangers. They should not have any kinks (minimum radius 50 mm for lines supplied by E+L). When a pneumatic motor is used, a purified, lubricated air supply with a pressure of 4 to 7 bar must be available to assure efficient motor operation. A maintenance unit consisiting of water separator, filter, lubricator and pressure regulator is supplied. Ensure that the air supply tube is adequately sized. Please ensure that the lever arm type stretcher does not start up automatically following a machine standstill or resetting of the emergency off device. 5. Commissioning The lever arm type stretcher should be commissioned by qualified or suitably instructed personnel only. Please observe the locally applicable and professional safety and accident prevention regulations. During commissioning or operation no-one may remain in the danger area around the lever arm type stretcher. 5.1 Commissioning with E+L belt tension controller If the delivery of lever arm type stretcher includes E+L belt tension controller DC 7... or DC 042./242., commissioning the lever arm type stretcher is described in the belt tension controller operating manual. See attached belt tension controller DC 7... or DC 042./242. operating manual. 5.2 Commissioning without E+L belt tension controller When implementing a lever arm type stretcher without an E+L belt tension controller please perform commissioning as described below. Please ensure that: - the lever arm type stretcher is mounted according to the attached layout/dimensioned drawing - the lever arm type stretcher is parallelly aligned - the movable bearing is mounted centrally and moves smoothly. D Page 6 BEA--250394-EN-06 Lever arm tensioner SP 0901/SP 0902 Using the attached wiring diagram check that the individual connection leads are run correctly. Check the position of the limit switches that switch off the drive of the lever arm type stretcher as soon as the tension roller has reached an end position. If necessary adapt the position of the limit switches to the given installation situation. Then check the function of the limit switches. If the effective direction does not match, the limit switch wiring must be checked and corrected. Switch on the drive of the lever arm type stretcher. Check the tension roller traveling direction. If it does not concur with the tighten/slacken function on the command station, the connection leads to the drive must be checked and the connections corrected. "Slacken" the lever arm type stretcher until the tension roller has reached its end position. Switch off the drive of the lever arm type strechter. Insert clothing. Switch on the drive of the lever arm type strecher and "Tighten" until the belt tension set value is reached. 6. Operation The lever arm type stretcher should be operated by qualified or suitably instructed personnel only. See attached E+L belt tension controller DC 7... or DC 042./242. operating manual. When implementing lever arm type stretchers without E+L belt tension controllers, the operator can trigger the drive and move the tension carriage via push buttons. In manual mode the maximum permissible clothing tension should be minded as it is not limited automatically. BEA--250394-EN-06 D Page 7 Lever arm tensioner SP 0901/SP 0902 7.
