Principal’s Message
Well another year has come and gone! This time is often
a happy time, yet it is also a sad time as we send our
farewells to the students and staff who leave us.
The staff and students would like to send a good bye
and best of luck to our grade 12 grads; Christine, Katie, Johnathan, Andrew, Brandon and
Ashton. May the next part of your Journey be an adventure filled with many opportunities to learn something new.
Staff and students would also like to say good bye for now to Mrs. T. and Mrs. Elez, these two ladies are starting a new
adventure in their lives as well. They are both expecting little students of their own and will be on leave for the 2016-2017
school year. May you both take time to enjoy your new little adventures and also learn something new. We also need to
say good bye to Mrs. V. who will be starting a new adventure as she has accepted the AA position at Central Butte , we
wish her all the luck as she learns something new in the fall.
Of course with students and staff leaving, we need to fill some empty spots in the classrooms. In the fall we will have new
kindergarten students joining us, Ms. Jensen will be taking over for Mrs. T.’s classes and Miss. Scharnatta will be taking
over Mrs. Elez’s classes. As for finding a replacement for Mrs. V, that is a process still in the works, and will have to wait
until the fall for that update!
I would like to wish everyone a safe, happy and relaxing summer. I look forward to seeing everyone in the fall as we Kick
off the 2016-2017 school year!

What's New in K/1/2/3?
We welcomed Miss Cooper into our class and are happy she got to be our teacher this month! Playday was such
fun and it was great to see the students from the other schools. We also participated in the final team spirit activity. Many of us did not participate in the medieval potluck feast but it was fun to eat our lunches with everyone.
We really enjoyed the jousting! It was fun to come to the awards ceremony and even if we weren’t able to make it,
we still got to get our certificates. We changed our season meter for the final time this school year as we welcomed summer. It was great to see the smiling faces of our new kindergarten students as they came for their
practice/orientation day. We are sad that we will have to say goodbye to Miss Cooper at the end of this month and
we wish her well in her new job next year. We are excited that we will have new teachers this fall. Miss Dyck, who will be called Mrs.
Richardson in the fall, will be one of our teachers and we have not met the other new teacher yet. That will be a surprise for us when
we come back in September! All of us are looking forward to summer holidays when we can sleep in and play all day!

Playday
June 2nd was a beautiful day – the perfect weather for playday! This year we had the kindergarten to grade six students coming
PSSD #210
from Chaplin, Mortlach and Craik schools. The students from grades three to six in Central Butte School were here as well.
We had a great day and received a lot of positive feedback from our visiting schools. We could not do this without all the volunteers.
Thanks to all the parents that volunteered their time in the booth and with leading groups. Thanks for the parents that worked the
grill and kept those hot dogs and hamburgers rolling in. Thanks to the help from the school staff that put in extra time to help get the
booth and grounds ready. We appreciated having the concession booth organized by Chris MacLachlan. Thanks also to Jill Hohner
for your part in getting in the supplies we need. Thanks to the village for making sure that the grass was mowed for us to do our
races. We also appreciated having the pits rototilled. Thanks to the high school students that helped out, whether it was moving a
freezer, chalking lines, or timing races. We also extend a thank you to the helpers that came from other schools and anyone else
that we may have missed! There is a lot of work that goes into planning and carrying out this day smoothly. Thankfully, we have
amazing volunteers that help pull it off!
