One Week in the Life of OLL Students!
Wednesday, May 22 -Gallery Night
OLL will be celebrating its annual Gallery Night, an event that
showcases many types of student artwork created throughout the
year in the regular art classes, art clubs, and Meet the Masters
Program. Everyone is invited.
This event takes place in the cafetorium on
Wednesday, May 22, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Students Crown Mary as Queen of the School
Following the Catholic tradition that consecrates the month of
May to Mary, OLL students recently celebrated the Crowning of
Our Lady in the school Butterfly Garden. Parents and students
participated in a prayer service during which our third graders
played “Immaculate Mary” on their recorders and the eighth
graders led the school community in the recitation of a decade
of the Holy Rosary. Chosen to crown the statue of Our Lady of
Fatima with a wreath of flowers this year was Brianna Riguera
(right), while Adrianna Zambrano (left) assisted by holding the
pillow and wreath.
2013 Male and Female Athletes of the year
At the OLL annual athletic convocation, eighth graders
Daniel Padron and Janelle Rodriguez were recognized as the
2013 Male and the Female Athletes of the Year due to the
quality of their participation in the school sports program,
their extraordinary talent, and their sportsmanship and
leadership throughout the entire year.

Jonathan Perez
Our Lady of the Lakes Alumnus
will be ordained on
Saturday, May 25th, 2013 at
the Sacred Heart Cathedral Basilica,
in Newark, New Jersey.
Jonathan was born December 4th, 1980, in Miami, FL. He attended OLL from 5th to 8th grade,
PACE High School for two years and then transferred to American High School, where he finished
his senior year in 1999. He was an excellent athlete and played soccer for the Optimist Club of Miami
Lakes as a young child and later, in both high schools’ soccer teams.
Jonathan’s parents have been active members of the Neocatechumenal Way Communities since 1989,
which made Jonathan an active member since he was 12 years old. While in college, Jonathan felt a
call to do missionary work. Lived amongst the poor and sheltered. It was there that his “excitement
took over and felt joy and freedom” which are, “the love and forgiveness of God.” Jonathan was then
“willing to go anywhere to follow Him.”After much prayer and reflection, Jonathan decided to enter
the seminary. He began his seminary formation when he was 23 years old, at the Redemptoris Mater
Archdiocesan Missionary Seminary located in Kearny, New Jersey.
Jonathan describes his experience in the Seminary as “geared towards forming priests for the New
Evangelization” and has learned that in giving of himself, he receives life. He learned and
experienced that “prayer life and the gifts of the Sacraments are essential to spiritual growth and for
maintaining the happiness that comes from meeting Jesus Christ.” Through discernment and prayers
from family, friends, and from those who pray for vocations, Jonathan feels he is “on the verge of
ordination.”
We can feel the joy in his heart and Our Lady of the Lakes Parish congratulates Jonathan and thanks
him in advance for his choice and prayers.
May God bless him with health and happiness!

This is a fundraiser that will help support our Boy Scouts in order to help to teach them
leadership skills and provide them with outdoor opportunities. Please come with cash and buy
