Jewelry Making I: Bead Stringing Get started on your first jewelry

Jewelry Making I: Bead Stringing
Get started on your first jewelry making project by designing a Simple Strand Necklace. In this
introductory class students will create something one-of-a-kind and wonderful as they plan and
layout their necklace design using a "beading board", learn basic design and color application,
discover tricks and techniques for stringing beads, then how to securely attach a decorative clasp as
the finishing touch.

Jewelry Making II - Wire Turning:
Your next step is to make earrings by learning how to make a loop or eye out of wire. This class is
half technique and half earring design. After practicing the wire turning technique students will learn
several different styles of earring design. Wire turning can be applied to making necklaces and
bracelets too as well as allowing beads to dangle from any design.

Jewelry Making III - Wire Wrapping:
This technique is an important "link" to multimedia design. Create a wire wrapped loop or eye will
not open up under pressure and it's great for earrings or for attaching to chain, ribbon or leather in a
necklace. This class will cover a lot of design ideas for multimedia projects, I.E.: combining leather,
hand-dyed ribbon, chain, and beads.

Instructor: Peggy Forrester
Class Fee: $20
RSVP 72 hours in advance at: [email protected]
Color Theory for Jewelry Design:
Techniques and mechanics are only part of creating a wonderful piece of jewelry. How you use color
can determine the "wow" factor of your work and give you confidence in what you're designing.
Students will have an opportunity to work with an "interactive" color wheel as well as experiment
with their newly acquired knowledge in creating a simple project.
