WE'RE SUCKERS
A college mnn hates to "gt>t. :,uckctl under'' in
a uu~iness deal. Arter attending a univer$ity for
one or more years he feels he is a.t least capable
of giving a proposition the once over l>efore signiJlg away money. He pride~ himself on his ability to in\'estigate bdor~: goiug deep into a scheme.
Yet here at \\'a. hington and Lee, as a letter
we are printing in the letter tn the editor column
would indicate. we are a hunch o{ sucker!.. During the recent examination period, perhaps the
majority of men here snw two letters with Rouert E. Lee hotel envelope on the bulletin board
in rront of the ccrop. Sollie student had found
them on the '' alk. ami a~ they nee< led stamps
and he evidently thought the owner would pa s
by and claim them, he placed them in full view
of passers-by.
For over a week they stayed there. Finally
they were taken down by a member of till! off ice
staf f and opened to see if there was a return address on the inside. A!. the contents of on.e of

THE ARMY MEET
Climaxing this year's wrestling schedule will
be the meet with Army on March 5 when the
most appealing program s i~ this sport has been
introduced to Southern intercollegiate competition will be offered
An unusun.l angle lms been prt:sentcd in the
scheduling of this maer. for when it was being
arranged last Spring 11 wa!:> round t.hat the athI ed~ department could uot give it financial backing. Coach Mathis and members of the team,
desirous of having the West Pointers come to
Doremus gymnasium. circulated a paper among
the members of the st.ullt!nt body asking that
those who would be williug to pay. the dollar admission ut the gate. sibrn their names to it in order that financial backing be assured. In other
words, the wreslling team. with the signatures
of more than half the studt'nt body, agreed to
back the meet without the nid of the athletic departmcnt.
" londay, the men who signed their names to
this paper, will be aslted to buy their tickets. It
is most important that their response be imme·
diatc.
Elahorale plans have heen made for the meet.
The eight hundred seats which will be erected
will all be resenred. Stubs on the tickets, assures each man of his rightful seat.
U en who last year expressed their desire to
support a meet with Army must not forget their
agreement, but they alone cannot make it a financial success. New men in the school must
lend their support. if Washington and Lee is to
hold the spotlight of the intercollegiate wrestling
world on March 5.
ANOTHER QUESTION
With mqst of tlte di ff iculty in regard to the

"'
classes after the Christmns holidays begin on
January 2. Thi~ certaiuly isn't a ,·ery pleasant
tlate to look forward to. Those boys who live
at the greater distance will have to miss the home
town !\ew Year's E ve celehration ; those boys
who li\'C even furthe r will have to leave sooner,·
and finally there will be few students in the
Uni versity who won't have to lea\'e for college
New Year's day.
0 11
There are many, in fact. a great many students who now feel that the new rul ing is unjust. These have voiced the opinion that an extra day in June would be preferable to such a
sudden return in 1933. There are few, if any,
students in this un iversity who, haven't anticipateel New Year's Eve long months beforehand.
Under the present holiday ruling a maj'ority of
the e students will be compelled to spend New
Year's £,·e on the way back to school.
