BEECHWOOD LEISURE PARK,
ELVASTON, DERBYSHIRE
‘‘
Take some soft hook pellets to Beechwood as they
are a great bait for mixed catches.
As a new fishery the venue has just about settled
down. Winter catches were very encouraging and
much bigger catches are expected during the
summer. The venue suits those that like catching
fish, so come and give it a go.”
Colin Beech, fishery owner.

DESCRIPTION. Set on the very edge of the Peak District, with a
caravan park, camping facilities and log cabin accommodation
this 20-acre site offers fishing on five lakes. Swan 1, 22 pegs, has
carp to 6 lb but mainly around the 1 lb mark. Swan 2, 14 pegs, has
carp to 9 lb. Warren, 24 pegs, boasts carp to 15 lb while Kingfisher,
40 pegs, has carp to 8 lb. All these have roach, rudd, perch and
skimmers to 1 lb. Oak, 30 pegs, has carp to 8 lb, tench to 6 lb plus
roach and rudd to 1 lb. Horseshoe is the stock lake with no fishing.
TACTICS. It is all about catching plenty of fish at Beechwood. At
this time of the year mixed catches, but especially carp, fall to
float fished soft pellet over loose fed small pellets that must be
bought from the fishery. Pole, waggler or straight legered maggot
or caster, over loose feed, will score all the species. Other options
are to float fish meat over riddled meat but for the better carp try
floating crust.
GOOD SWIMS. As a relatively new fishery, fish can be caught
anywhere on these lakes.
