Build a Molecule Simulation
Introduction:
Atoms bond together in specific ways to make molecules. Molecules have a common name as well as structure and a
formula. In this activity you will be using the computers to practice creating molecules, as well as structure some of your
own.

First Tab: Make Molecules
1) In the table below, fill in the molecule name, the ball and stick drawing, and the chemical formula. In order to
view the Ball and Stick drawing, click on the 3D button and change it from Space Filling to Ball and Stick. Make
note of how many bonds there are. You may have to look through the kits to find the right atoms.

Second Tab: Collect Multiple
2) Repeat a similar process to what you did in the First Tab, except now you will be collecting groups of molecules
rather than single ones. The chemical name will be revealed when the molecule is complete. Check the Ball and
Stick model again for bond number.
